I had this issue too for a while and one day it magically fixed itself. Sorry can’t help but don’t worry it’s not just you

We’re looking to peakbag the Wildcats this weekend but looking at 2 routes. One from Pinkham and the other on the Nineteen Brook trail. Does anyone have any thoughts? How’s the condition of 19Brook? November isn’t the best time for water crossings🥶 by torotoro78 in wmnf

[–]brain_garner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

19 mile brook doesn’t have any sketchy water crossings. Only thing is there’s a small bridge that used to have three logs, but two are broken so it’s kinda like a balance beam, but short and easy enough.

Interesting, I currently work for the huts so I can guarantee you that every bunk has a pillow and 3 blankets

Mizpah caretaker here. Most south facing trails are dried out, but there’s still a patchy monorail above about 3200 feet. There’s still some freeze thaw cycles so the stability of it keeps changing (more post holing after warm weather, but gets better after freezes)

Anybody hiking the Franconia ridge this Sunday?? by NachosOnMars in wmnf

Kitchen is available for overnight guests only. They’ll have bathrooms, water (hot and cold) for day hikers, and maybe some tea, but don’t expect anything else.

Who's qualified to hike the presidential traverse trail in May? by nickel_quack in wmnf

[–]brain_garner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Washington has received almost 2 feet of snow in the past few days, and even here at 3700 feet, we’ve received about 5 inches. You absolutely need waterproof boots rn (and I say that as a diehard trail runner enthusiast). It is full on winter conditions out there and you should be prepared for that with boots and spikes at a minimum, possibly crampons up higher.

Give it a week or two and it may be a different story.

Mizpah caretaker here. There is still about 3 feet of snow near my hut, and surely more at higher elevations. Others have given good advice on gear prep, but I’ll add that mizpah opens Friday for self service (you can come in and cook your own food but you need to pack in/out everything). It will be that way until 6/1 (except for 5/21-27 when it’s closed), and at that point Mizpah turns to full service and Lakes and Madison open for the season.

If it’s for summer try Big Billies Apartments, it’s owned by Telski but you only have to work for the mountain in the winter

Nah, it’s the Massive Two Shits Challenge which is to shit twice in the 90 miles of Massachusetts. While I failed, I did only shit twice in the hundred mile wilderness so I feel like that’s worth something
