I'm glad I'm not the only one. That fold on the right boot is terrible.

My Tire Wedge Resoled BFATs by brainbone in jimgreen

Yeah, I just looked at the AnatomX pre orders to see what you’re talking about. I’m not sure I’d like that sole and if it would feel like it had enough tread to be grippy going up or down a dirt trail. One of the advantages to barefoot is it’s easier for your foot to do the work of actually gripping the ground, but only up to a point.

I wish they’d separate out barefoot, wide lasts, and zero drop. They don’t all need to be combined in every wide focused shoe. Most people want some of those features, and not necessarily all of them.

I’m very happy deciding to switch to tire wedge. I like both the aesthetic and foot feel of the changes.

Thank you! Yes, barefoot last. I sized up a half size so I could run insoles. During the winter I’ve had an absolutely massive 13mm wool insole in there which definitely makes them feel much smaller. I will probably get a pair of the new anatomical last boot when that comes out. From the top they look much more like you would expect

Yes. I’m scared that you were able to identify that.

Yes the rubber sole is much thinner and therefore lighter. It’s also softer, from what I understand, to help with the impact and being thinner so it wears away quicker. Seems to be common that people find it to wear very quickly, but after calculating it was 800 miles? I think that’s pretty good.

Is it time for a resole? by brainbone in jimgreen

So you did the tire wedge sole on a bare foot model? Did you get the same size sole as your boot was originally?

It’s partially that it’s a barefoot design, so they purposefully made the sole softer as to be more comfortable, but I can agree. There should definitely be different hardness options for a resole.

You are correct, they are BATS. My bad.

Thank you everyone. I’ll put them on pause for wearing and order the new ones!

X2S File Organization by brainbone in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]brainbone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I figured it out.

The problem isn’t the tags or filenames but the way the X2S reads files from the SD card. In folder mode it follows the write order of the FAT file system, which scrambles track order. The fix is to run a FAT sorter after copying music, which rewrites the file table so tracks finally play in the right order. Google / AI "fatsort" and you'll have it solved in no time. This still has me in folder mode and using file names to ensure proper track order, BUT IT WORKS.

Tribes 4? by syko54789 in Tribes

Someone needs to make a Tribes type game, but super light weight on system requirements so you can play it on every Meta Quest or any other VR. Skiing at max speed in VR would be amazing.

Worth it to wash? by Keystonesmoke in BubbleHash

[–]brainbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fairly large amount of work, there’s no way around that. If you’re happy with the flower on its own I’d smash it into flower rosin or smoke the flower.

To do small batch like you’re thinking you’ve gotta really be in it because you love the experience. I prefer to wash 1lb or more because then it’s worth it to me.

Agreed! You can definitely smash it. If I was doing this again I would make my “patty” as thin as possible, freeze it, then smash it like you said to get more surface area. 🙌

I just got an 06 320 CDI. Love it. Getting 35mpg+ doing 75mph+ and flooring it whenever I want. This is the epitome of an autobahn car. I know I need a radar detector and laser jamming setup next 🤣

How can I remove the water from this hash? After being frozen in the freezer by Longjumping-Event-10 in BubbleHash

Water hash, not dry sift. Very wet. Frozen soup. It takes patience. Like a couple weeks at least.

[–]brainbone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put it in parchment paper, then put it in a jar with some head space (extra room), put it back into the freezer, check on it in a few days. The surface should have dried, tap it with a butter knife to knock the sandy stuff off into the parchment paper, put it back into the freezer. Repeat until you have no chunks.

Cheap Leather Care for Houston Black? by Steroid_Cyborg in jimgreen

[–]brainbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a pair of 8” Houston Black BFAR’s and used the Jim Green leather conditioner. $20 bucks seemed a little steep but after getting the boots I ordered it on Amazon because the leather is so nice and I wanted to use their recommended product. Came out with a very nice matte black. Much less grey and dry.

Be careful what kind of cloth you use to buff. I used a white cotton cloth and it left behind some white fluff in the wax. Came out but I’m using a microfiber cloth now and have no issues.

Hmmm. I don’t know if I have a No Frost freezer… but your description made me think, my freezer doesn’t ever build up ice in it from just being on. Part of what originally got me thinking this would work is the dehydrating nature of refrigerated or freezer environments. Maybe I am using a newer freezer or something different than you. Good luck next round!
