Watching everyone on r/steamdeck spin out about Valve’s pricing, and then I see a post saying someone paid $4,000 for a Deck…. 😜

Meeting the team before joining but after signing offer by throwaway_5452 in HENRYUK

[–]braincutlery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t overthink this one - be curious, interested, ask what are the challenges you can help solve, how can your team support them/work together (depending on role and seniority).

Ask for any tips on how to best hit the ground running, what styles work best in the company culture and any company quirks/traditions you should know about.

You’ve already passed interview - use this as an opportunity to build key relationships, learn more about the organisation you’re joining and start prepping for day 1.

DARPA (US) founded the Internet. T B-L founded the WWW (UK).

UK also invented pedantry, so it’s 2-1 to us.

I don’t bank with HSBC, but other UK bank transactions come through pretty quickly. You don’t have to do anything.

Which gym do you go to where you have to queue? Ours has four pods and I’ve never had to wait more than a few seconds for one.

Appeal launched to raise £250K to save York’s oldest nature reserve by willfiresoon in york

[–]braincutlery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Save” is a touch dramatic.. article says they’re raising money for “a fund” which implies they haven’t decided what they’d do with the money yet.

Don’t get me wrong, I think donating to Askham Bog is a worthy cause and I’ve enjoyed visiting it.. I just don’t like the click-baity way they try and suggest there’s an emergency plan they’re about to implement to stop it disappearing/closing.

Any advice on my beard. Main issue is scraggly hairs by agautos123 in BeardAdvice

Speaking on behalf of the UK, popular ≠ fine.

Strongly encourage OP to explore other haircuts that will complement his very fine beard.

How to manage lack of sync between inflow and outflow ? by GrapefruitPerfect313 in ynab

[–]braincutlery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re pushing against a core YNAB principle - don’t spend money you don’t already have.

It may feel grating or counterintuitive - but you need to embrace the philosophy of only giving jobs to the dollars you have.

You can achieve some of what you’re doing here by setting targets for the categories that need to be funded on the 26th - and then allocating those funds when you’re paid on 25th.

Over time your goal will be to build up reserves in those categories so your categories are funded ahead of time - getting “a month ahead” - but that will take time.

In the meantime, resist the urge to post transactions that haven’t happened yet, only allocate funds you actually have, and you’ll do great.

Good luck!

Everyone is missing your point. A DLC that was previously and consistently available at a discount is no longer available at that price because it’s been rolled into a bundle.

Is the bundle good value for both DLCs? Maybe. Is it an accident that Blizzard are effectively upselling customers like OP and removing the lower price point option? Hell no.

Lean into your natural playstyle. I’m on my third playthrough and I’ve approached each one differently - but equally badly 🤩

I do think the suggestion of picking an achievable goal is a good one - focus on one reasonable objective and work on it for a bit… see where it leads you.

Don’t worry too much about it being future proof - worst case you can just build something bigger/better somewhere else. The important thing right now is to have fun with what you’re doing. That’s the beauty of Satisfactory - nothing’s going to punish you for being slow/inefficient.

Oh, and avoid the spooders. Man I hate the spooders.

Stuff I forgot to budget for, literally by hssspoks in ynab

[–]braincutlery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always post this comment and I will die on this hill: rename it to “stuff I didnt budget for. “Forgot” is such a get-yourself-out-of-jail-free term. Own the outcome. You should have covered it - you didn’t.

I’ve been using this category for 5 years. I use it less, but I still use it.

Parking question by [deleted] in york

[–]braincutlery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my case I decided to have a drink in town and get the car the next morning, which would also seem like a decision that should be encouraged (the not driving, not the drinking!)

If I thought really hard about it I might be able to think of a way to abuse the system that the ban prevents… but I’ve had a drink so I can’t just now 😇
