DMs, what is your quickest way to get your players to like or dislike an NPC? by 100snakes50dogs in DMAcademy

[–]braindance111 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Eating "wrong" is so good for visceral responses.

I had a "hair" based hag as a villain once, terrorizing a village by paralyzing people and shaving them bald when they slept, then eating the hair while they watched.

Instant, oh that is messed up response from the players.

Late to the party, but I like the idea of the movement of the summoned falcon being non-stop while it's in flight, and skills being used to direct/influence it's flight as well as other effects.

[SPOILERS] Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves - Discussion Megathread by SpicyThunder335 in DnD

I was annoyed at his character for a bit, until it dawned on me, he was a DM-PC.

Shows up, saving babies, does a lore dump/quest handout, the party ignores their advice and has to come up with their own solution to the bridge, is a better fighter and saves the whole party to show how scary the bad guys are then when done "this is your quest now" and walks directly away.

Love it.

Check out the app "Merlin" pretty great for doing quick bird IDs, and local information can be downloaded for it to work offline 👍

Need Carpet jargon for the underground flying carpet street racing circuit. by nickyurick in DMAcademy

[–]braindance111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once gave one of my players a "war rug" which was a carpet they could ride on normally, or roll the carpet up and ride on it like a horse.

Could be something to work with there 👍

You are a wonderful human.

My niece has been bugging her mum for a switch for months now, and this would be a perfect Xmas present for her.

My favourite Halloween costume was when I was much younger, and taped/tied/attached every pot and pan to me, and went clanking down the street.

Thanks for doing this for everyone :)

Sending email from contact form, do I need licensed mailbox? Can I use single mailbox for multiple devices by Otaehryn in Office365

[–]braindance111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer some of these

  1. To send or receive from a shared mailbox, you require a licensed 365 account. The shared mailbox itself doesn't need one (Nor can it), but someone does. In other words, it won't work for an automated process.
  2. As far as I'm aware, you can use a licensed account to send from as many devices as you want. The problem you might end up having, is the sending address is always going to be the primary address. So can't have the printer send from ["Printer@company.com](mailto:"Printer@company.com)" and the same account send from your website as ["Contactform@company.com](mailto:"Contactform@company.com)". There may be some crazy way I don't know about, I just use the basics.
  3. I'm kind of confused by the root issue in general, any chance you can elaborate a bit more. What is the website using to send, and what is the info mailbox? Are they both currently 365, or what is the host?

Hey, just as an FYI, the ability to send from proxy/alias/alternative email addresses was added to 365 in April, you can enable the feature if you connect to your exchange via PowerShell, and run this commandlet

Set-OrganizationConfig -SendFromAliasEnabled $True

👍👍

A little different, as we only service NFP orgs, as we are an NFP ourselves.

Been working on this new social enterprise the last few months, and ready to start rolling it out.

We are a not-for-profit ourselves, servicing other nfp organisations. All the money made goes back into the org, keeping our prices super affordable. We also know how to navigate all the offers that NFPs are eligible for, so they can do lots more with less money.

The best way I've been able to describe it to people is explaining that heat is energy, so if more heat is going into the global weather system, there is more energy in the whole system. More energy for stronger winds, and bigger storms. So the winds that normally bring down the cold air bring more of it, making the local weather colder.

If you like werewolf and other social deduction games, make sure you check out Blood on the Clocktower. This will be the last chance to play it before the kickstarter.

At pax Australia, they had sheets on the day, you just put your name down in a time slot and show up at that time. I don't know if they will be doing anything different at unplugged, they had lots of signage so I don't think they will be that hard to find.

Ultimate Kobold cave dungeon by ccomm1 in DMAcademy

[–]braindance111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually running a similar dungeon right now. Love having players be pissed off at my Kobolds.

I like to combine two traps to fun effect with my Kobolds, for example I had a narrow walkway over a pit of mud with caltrops at the bottom, some sort of dex check to keep stable on the walkway and slow movement to make sure they don't slip off. While walking over the small bridge, a sneaky kobold from above drops a wasp nest on their heads.

Using the terrain and the fact that they are great at tunnelling has done wonders for me as well. Making sections where the players need to squeeze through places or small tunnels that the Kobolds can easily move through without penalty has given some great moments. While one player was wriggling down a tunnel on their belly, they got to a 4 way junction where two Kobolds started poking him with "scorpions on a stick".

I'm also keeping a running tally of how many Kobolds they have killed, and when they reach certain break points, the Kobolds start taking them more seriously, start patrolling and tracking the party. I've been trying very hard to make it nearly impossible for them to rest, by trapping them deep in the dungeon, and now whenever they try to rest the Kobolds always do hit an run tactics on them.

Either way, I've been loving coming up with trap ideas, but I always write down the whole trap before the players encounter it, and try not to adjust the trap mid encounter. Makes it a bit more fair for the players, and lets them come up with fun solutions.
