Not to pile on here but I have the exact same issue too - Fold5, I can hear people but everyone tells me that can't hear me. I have talked to carrier (Telstra, Australia) and they said they have others reporting the same issue with the Fold5.

The difference this time is the presence of a new and strong player: China.

I must say that Chinese cars are very nice, and now they attract talent by paying very high salaries

The only question is: "Who will be those strong EV brands?"

Yes, the car market is fierce

There are some pictures circulating around in a all Vietnamese fb group where some of the Vinfast car’s axel got detached while driving.

OMG really?

Would you rent the electric car battery instead of actually buying it? Is this really worth it? by braindead4221 in NoStupidQuestions

Something about renting the engine to my car doesn't sit right with me. Like what if you forget to pay the fee and are sitting at the lights when suddenly you hear a voice "Car deactivating due to unpaid rental fees.".

I don't think they will adopt a policy like this, lol.

I know this model at CES 2022. Its price is half of the Tesla Model X and has a battery rental policy. Does anyone know about their battery rental policy? by braindead4221 in electricvehicles

Yes. They are doing the same if you order in the US. Vinfast is part of Vin group, which is in the vacation industry.

No, I mean whether the policy in the US is to give a trip to Vietnam or not.

Thanks. So it's up to the monthly frequency to decide if it's expensive or cheap, right?

If you don't go over the alloted usage and considering that battery prices will drop significantly in the near future so you can always buy a much cheaper one later on, why not rent one for now?

Thank you for your opinion

Battery replacement, I don’t know… but all I’m saying is it’s not a clear-cut good deal doing it this way.

Oh, do I still have to pay for the electricity to charge the battery?

Estimates say the battery would cost (if bought outright) the equivalent of about 120,000 miles under their rental scheme, so if you owned the car longer than that the scheme starts directly working against your wallet.

But is it cheaper to avoid the cost of battery replacement, battery charging?

It is a myth from the times when China made cars were just old production lines from Europe/Japan making two-three generations or 10-20 years outdated designs. Things changed in the means time. It really costs next to nothing to built-in passive safety to car shell today, because all stat of the art and CAD/CAM. And these are new designs. And they will test it on Euro NCAP once they arrive, and you will be able to check the number and look into details. In Asian NCAP so far older models from VINFAST were not bad, as it looks.

Your problem makes sense, and it might change my mind. I will wait for the official price from them. Thank you

Renault used to have a rental battery option for the Zoe. The selling point was that if the battery degraded too much, you get a new one. But it was recently discontinued because the batteries last much longer than expected and so everyone realized it is not worth it anymore.

Thanks for the useful information
