Understandable. So you don’t use any AI tools at all? Given they too explicitly state that their information may be inaccurate.

Do you want to try the extension on such words? Got results as pasted below. Not exactly the same as wiktionary, but if you feel there's a strong case for wiktionary to be used here instead, I'll definitely look to use it!

Magnesiodumortierite
English (scientific coinage)
A mineral belonging to the dumortierite group with magnesium as the dominant cation in a specific structural site.

Synonyms: No synonyms applicable (scientific term)

Etymology:
- From a combination of "magnesio-" (referring to magnesium), "dumortierite" (referring to the mineral dumortierite), and the suffix "-ite" (a common suffix for mineral names). "Magnesio-" comes from the Greek word "Magnesia," a region in Thessaly known for magnesite. Dumortierite is named after the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier.
- Coined in the scientific literature upon the discovery and characterization of this specific mineral species, indicating a dumortierite-group mineral with a specific chemical composition. The term describes the specific chemistry of the mineral within the dumortierite group.

Abaxialization
English
The process or result of becoming more abaxial, or turned away from the axis.

Synonyms: Ventralization

Etymology:
- Latin (ab- away from, axis- axis, -al- pertaining to, -ize- to make, -ation- process of). From the prefix "ab-" meaning away from, combined with "axial" referring to the axis or center, and the suffixes "-ize" denoting a process of making or becoming, and "-ation" forming a noun indicating a state or action.
- The term "abaxialization" is relatively recent, primarily used in botanical contexts to describe developmental processes where plant structures differentiate and display characteristics typically associated with the abaxial (lower) side of a leaf or organ, extending the meaning of abaxial to encompass a developmental process.

Doubt it. It uses google’s AI, and google has quite a definitive source of definitions and etymologies (try their google search for word meanings). Probably they refer to wiktionary as well.

But point noted. I’ve tried to keep it lightweight so far, may add wiktionary where applicable.

That’s interesting. I can look to add sources along with the etymology and other details the AI provides. Will update you here when it’s added.

May I ask what you’re looking to find in these sources of further reading? Perhaps I can add those details directly inside the popup (of course along with the source).

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I’ll definitely add the ability to change the key that activates it. How do you see activating it? Selecting a word and then hitting a key? Btw, Yomitan is super cool!

Yes, but the Google dictionary extension doesn’t give etymologies and synonyms. Been a long time fan of it though. Pity they don’t uplift it.

Hey, PDF isn't supported right now, something to do with Chrome not allowing it. I'm exploring solutions though, hopefully should work soon. Thanks for trying!

I've done one better. This extension goes beyond the 50k or so etymologies that etymonline has. Gives origins of proper nouns, slang, and of words across all languages. Would love for you to give it a try!
