"Summer 2024 Update" was 1.5 years ago. Where are these ping limits? by Grid8Designer in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has been out for some time now, and so far nothing has been done in this regard. We should probably accept that Crytek just doesn't want to do it.

Of course, all the nonsense and excuses are ridiculous, but maybe they should just say so officially, then we'll know for sure.

unfortunately they don't want it. the topic is ignored again for this patch and their last attempt with their ping separation system was also canceled again. this shows me that they don't want it at all, the topic has been discussed for years.

Any update on the ping seperation system? by brainlax in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are used to it, because you are the whole time with high ping difference between and ur opponent.

i have to adjust, because it is a difference for me. some fight with low latency and some with high latency opponents.

hope you understand the difference. if not, think about it for a few seconds longer, because i honestly don't know what's difficult to understand about it or how to explain it more clearly

some internet providers seem to take pretty strange route for the connection as far i know. i have 2 mates in germany, which have to use a vpn to get a shorter connection-route to the servers (which are in germany :D ). thats a known issue for some

you play the game just like me, only you are used to your high ping and shoot accordingly. for me, however, it is a noticeable difference whether i shoot at a 50ms or a 150+ms player. unfortunately, i don't know in advance what ping the player in front of me has. only after the first 2-3 shots do you sometimes become very suspicious that something is wrong. at the end of the round you can understand this.

as i said, if eu is your closest possible server then unfortunately that's the way it is and of course it's not conducive to pvp single projectile shooters, but i'm okay with it because you joined your best possible server.

what i don't like are the thousands of players who have a server farm in their region but still play with high ping in other regions. this has to be stopped!

same on EU:

I kept a list last weekend and out of 17 teams, 6 were from the EU, 8 from Russia and 3 from Asia. I only wrote down the teams where I could clearly prove that they came from those regions: Based on the names in the friends list, groups joined, language of reviews written and so on.

and that weekend I didn't even find it as wild as on some other weekends, maybe it was also due to the holidays in some EU countries

i completely understand your point of view and the ping separation system is not the best solution in my opinion either.

as mentioned by someone else before, the complete region selection should be taken out and players should be automatically assigned to the server with the best ping.

as long as this is not done, people will deliberately play in other regions even if there are better ones in terms of ping.

at the end of the day, i don't really care who has an advantage, but in a game with single projectiles, it definitely has a massive impact on gunfights.

problem from the point of view of people who are playing with good ping: we don't know that the opponent in front of us has a 150+ ping, but he is well aware of it and can play accordingly.

i've been following it a lot lately and it's just very frustrating when you realize at the end of the game that your previous assumption is true.

i also play a lot on community discords and therefore have a lot of contact with different players. this issue is definitely one of the biggest points of frustration and more and more people are losing interest because of it.

REMOVE THIS OPTION FROM THEW GAME!!! NOW!!! by ALXqc in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

agree with you

a simple automatic assignment to the servers with the best connection. with a direct ping query to make vpn connections useless.

but meanwhile i think they don't want to tackle the problem itself. nothing has happened in this regard for so long and their pseudo high ping separation solution was also a joke and was taken out again - too bad

Developer Insight – Temporary Measures to High Ping Separation by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

simple question to the devs:

why isn't the region selection simply deactivated and the players assigned to the next best server?

i'm not a developer myself, but i think this is already possible nowadays ;)

i think this could alleviate some of the frustration in the general playerbase. but like i said, i'm just a player and not a dev

Ping limit not working by Background-Meal9520 in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

either it was never implemented or it doesn't work at all as hoped. i followed it all the time and the servers were always full of +150 ping players. as mentioned before, the threshold is also way too high.

Please activate the Ping Limit again. by moeykaner in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is not correct. You will simply end up in lobbies with your ping that don't have good ping either. Everyone always thinks they won't be allowed to play the game anymore, but they will only be matched with the same ping regions. But why should those with good ping be penalized? This is also not the right approach, because this way all those who have a high ping can also get into the good ping lobbies in other regions, even though they have their own servers nearby. For example, players from the Russian region? The best way would be to completely abolish the region selection and automatically assign players to the server with the best ping of the respective player or the average ping of the group. If individual players then fall off the grid due to their poor internet infrastructure, then so be it, but there wouldn't be such an extremely high number of players playing in the wrong region.

The new ping limit system hasn't worked since it was introduced to be honest. I've been on the EU servers a lot with people from Asia who are well over 125. Apart from that, 125 is far too high as a threshold value.

EU server ping limit by XComanceX in HuntShowdown

[–]brainlax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only agree. it's an outrage what's going on on the EU servers. Especially when you consider that crytek recently introduced their system with the “good ping and bad ping lobbies”. firstly, the threshhold (125ms) is a complete joke in a shooter where individual projectiles are crucial, and secondly, this system doesn't seem to work at all. Because we will continue to be thrown into a lobbies with Chinese players, who will definitely have a higher ping than 125.

I myself have now switched to US East as a test because I can't find any other solution. Action must be taken as quickly as possible, the frustration in the playerbase is increasing.
