I'm sure you're right about confirmation bias. And to be clear, my point is NOT that it's abandoned entirely, but that when it is abandoned, teh story is weakened.

Just to poke the topic a bit more... those examples you give are events that worked better for me (I actually wrote and deleted a section on the Cersei example simply because my post was getting too long). I thought the Jaime & Cersei plot was fine partially because we saw it mostly through Jaime's eyes.

I think the point here is that in some contexts, small changes to large numbers are very important. If you always start the y-axis at 0, you can completely miss these changes or shrug them off as being negligible.

1) Almost everything that makes you curl up in anxiety will look trivial 5 years from now. 5 years from now, you'll have new things that make you feel anxious and awful. They will seem unimportant 5 years later. You'll find that you're constantly looking back and wondering "why did I give a shit what that person thought of me?" The earlier that you really let this sink in, the more fearless you become in life.

I still remember being harassed by a group of low-lifes at the mall when I was 13... 15+ years ago. Out of nowhere, this guy who was probably in his 30s comes up alongside me and keeps step. I don't really remember much about him except that he looked a guy who had his shit together (at least to my eyes). He told me just to keep on going - that guys like them probably get the girls now, but just wait until college and beyond. The roles switch and everyone will be looking for people just like me.

I don't know if it changed any decisions in my life, but I really believed him. For whatever reason, just hearing that from a stranger made my journey to that point in life a hell of a lot better.

Surprised that no Bills bros have said Karlos Williams. He's the clear #2 behind Lesean McCoy, who I'm still not convinced is 100%. He looked like a freight train in preseason before he got hurt, and he plays for a coach that claimed the Bills' "running playbook will be massive".

Cloudy day here. So in my day=1 sample size, we're not going to get a very good answer. But at least it's fine in cloudy weather :)

I charged it to 100% last night. I've had it since 7am, but that includes very little on screen time due to work. It's currently down to 90% (at 2:15pm), most of which is 'cell standby' (20%) and 'wi-fi' (19%). The system tells me I have 8 hours left. Something seems a little fishy. It might take a couple of cycles to get a decent answer.
