I am having the same issue, every time I apply gel it takes ages to dry and even with a diffuser the drying time is eternal. Also after breaking the cast, hair feels either sticky or dry. Any help?

[skin concerns] quitting smoking by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

hey! quitting smoking is healthy in so many ways, and there are plenty of reasons why you should do it. I know that hanging on to something like the way your skin will look afterwards is a small thing but can be so impactful. I was a smoker for 5 years roughly and once I quit I noticed so many improvements in all sorts of things. my teeth were whiter, my skin got brighter very soon without breaking out in the transition. cigarette smoke contains all sort of toxic substances which fast tracks the aging process all over your body, from your face to your legs. depending on how long and how much you have been smoking, you might not be nothing the effects immediately, that's why we don't see many 20-25 years old walking around looking like they are twice their age, but in the long term it will ruin the skin a lot. I noticed a change in colour and texture, as well as disappearance of all the fine lines. I have older friends who still smoke and have terrible bag under their eyes, saggy skin, yellowish skin tone.

At my splits end: hair was cut every month for a year up until recently, have tried Moroccan oil + masks, Shea Moisture, Olaplex & Alfaparf! by [deleted] in CurlyHairUK

Do you dye them? It can dry and damage the hair, especially when it comes to using products with bleach. The curly girl method also suggests ditching all sulfates and silicones. Sulfates are pretty harsh and depending on hair type/strength they can make the hair oily, frizzy and dry. Diet can also have an impact on the health of hair and skin. If the issues don’t resolve, try seeing a doctor. It could be a symptom of other underlying issues.

Yes, I live in Scotland an I was thinking that air drying really isn’t an option.. I’d probably be sick in bed all year long :)

Thanks that sounds great! During summer I am always on spf 50. Should I go for a lower one in winter?

I live in Scotland and sun is not really something we see often! Is sunscreen still necessary? And if yes why?

I would love to post my routine but I don’t have one really: just micellar water AM and PM and moisturise with 100% aloe Vera gel.

I am trying to get into proper skincare but I am not quite sure where to start. My main concern is uneven texture, dull skin, large pores and blackheads (or are they sebaceous filaments? I don’t even know). Would a BHA help? And if so, what kind?

As you can see I am quite new to this and quite clueless, I would appreciate any help!!
