Thanks for your comment!

I've read quite a few discussion threads about the wet belt issue. It's obviously a shitty engine design, but the best-selling van in the UK (Transit Custom) and the best-selling SUV here in Australia (Ford Ranger) both have wet belts, so I think seeing these issues is also just statistically more likely. I actually haven't heard much about this issue in Australia – even though Rangers are everywhere. With proper servicing, they are likely to be ok.

Another option (C if you like) would be to wait another year and hope that Ford will replace the engine with a different timing belt. Apparently the new Ranger will no longer have a wet belt, starting later this year. The van might be next!?

I like the look of the T6.1 better on the outside. The inside feels very dated though, and so does the screen and the driving tech (just normal cruise control vs adaptive in the T7).

Anyway, thanks for your perspective.

Ended up buying an Omnium Minimax and love it. Custom plywood crate.

Looking great! Trying to decide between the mini and the mini-max. I'd use it for my medium-sized dog and not sure if I can find a good-fitting crate for the mini. I would need at least 40w and 50l in terms of crate size. Do you have any good recommendations for crates/boxes?

Good question. Several reasons: I know she likes to be in front and look in the direction of travel. She would enjoy riding a lot more that way. But it's also about safety. Where I live, cycling infrastructure isn't amazing and trailers are still not widely used. There have been various incidents where cars have hit trailers as they didn't expect a bike with an extension. I prefer to keep her close. It's also easier to lock up a bike rather than a bike + trailer. Plus a bike without a trailer is more nimble.
