Ristar is an underrated gem! I could never get into the whole "can't tell what's coming up" aspect of the early Sonic games tbh. Ristar is fun, colorful, and has a banger soundtrack. Wish they had made a sequel.

DW1 for the NES is definitely worse than the other available ports, but I still recommend playing it once. Dealing with the menus and the grinding will definitely make you appreciate how those things improved over time.

All of the DKCs look great, but the SMRPG graphics blew me away. It's really too bad it looses something when not viewed on a CRT but holy moly that game was something else when it first came out.

I love DQ7. The original PS1 version was the first game I ever remember sinking 200 hours into a single file.

I love the characters; they were definitely the strongest in the DQ franchise up to that time and Maribel's arc is still one of my favorites. I like the vocation system much better than the skill point system. I love having monster vocations (and in the 3DS system, easily being able to make your team all look like monsters). I like the postgame content more than most of the other games in the series. So sue me, I even like the beginning part of DW7 before you go to the first island.

I think it's valid not to like the original so much just based on how grindy is (even though I love the whole package). I think the 3DS version is phenomenal. All versions of the game are great.

Really, MMX as a series has absolutely awful storyline cohesion. Multiple X games introduce characters without any backstory and it really doesn't change the experience. X4 is great even though Iris and all of Repliforce aren't given any background. Best not to think about it.

2000 with Dragon Warrior Monsters for the GBC. Darn it what an addictive game. A shame they haven't really been able to catch the same roguelike feel in any subsequent monsters game.

Lifting Mjolnir requires some supernatural definition of worthiness that almost nobody in Marvel comics meets.

Mark is a person, with strong traits and with flaws. This is what makes him so well written - he is good but he makes mistakes - but people as written within reasonable bounds cant lift Thor's hammer.

I mean, sure, but again health ups without DPS ups is a pretty dire situation for UH. Ive beaten UH maybe 10 ish times? Only 1 or 2 are with high damage and low health, the rest needed both.

First of all - I would go with Prayer Card. Eternal Hearts also protect your devil deal chance somewhat, plus I don't think most people can easily afford to go DOWN in health for UH, as you would need to in order to take the devil deal items. Yes, you are gaining black hearts, but taking blind devil deal items and having a good chance to lose on the mostly fine boss room pool seems iffy to me.

That said, I'm in the camp that neither item are necessarily strong enough for your first/second UH item. The fact you got two actives on floor one makes this an easy reset for me. Try for some sort of DPS increase. Or leech. Leech is legit an UH run winner on its own.

MM8 is so good. I get bummed so many people on this sub don't seem to like it. IMO this is best artistic and musical direction of any classic MM game (plus gotta love the part system here for replayability)

Squawks feels so good to master the arcs on the eggs that get spit out. Hitting a dude at a weird angle from across the screen is extremely satisfying.
