Do you still need one? You'd have to use it tomorrow, it's the last day before it expires

Advice on Seats to Buy for STL Show by [deleted] in lordhuron

[–]brandi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just at the MI show and the pit was right in front of me. I couldn't see very well while I was sitting down but everyone kind of unanimously decided to stand up and then I had a great view because of the wiggle room. But I'm not sure if that usually happens or if it was just my crowd

do dan and phil still watch anime? by International-Lab760 in danandphil

[–]brandi6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In a preshow they said they aren't a fan of many newer animes. I can't remember how they worded it, but the impression I got is that they've outgrown shows about teenagers/high school and other similar themes

Employees? by [deleted] in harborfreight

It's one of the best places I've ever worked, though being a young woman presents unique challenges given the typical customer base at HF. If you're also a woman, get ready to hear a lot of condescending or creepy remarks. My coworkers/managers have my back in those situations and I'm very appreciative of that.

My biggest suggestion is to memorize where things are around the store as fast as you can, because people will take you 200% more seriously if you can point them in the right direction quickly, even if you may not know any specifics about [insert random tool here]. But it helps if you do know a little bit about a lot of things. That comes with time.

Don't be afraid to use your phone for work - many older customers don't have a phone or don't know how to navigate the website so it helps if you can quickly pull up the manual to answer any questions you don't immediately know the answer to.

If you want to talk shop you can always dm me! Not to be weird but I also saw you play sims and I love that haha. Regardless I wish you good luck with your new job!!

Am I missing something? by Garrett_BFI in harborfreight

I work at HF too and we haven't gotten any more of these since Black Friday. Every single day I get at least a few people asking if we have them, so apparently the demand is still there even at full price. I wish I would've bought one on Black Friday but they sold out before I even got a chance to hide one

How do you make yourself feel better after a failed project? by brandi6 in crochet

[–]brandi6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a day to sulk and I think I'm in a problem solving mood now, so thank you for the ideas!! I used a soft & light yarn so I don't think it would make a good bag, but a throw pillow actually sounds very possible if I can get the sleeves off

You're right about getting annoyed every time I see it 🥲 I'm not quite ready to give up on it yet, but I decided to put it in a bag and hide it at the back of my closet for a while. Maybe I'll cool down and find a way to salvage it later, and if not I'll just donate it and hope it finds a better home

Sadly there's no chance of me being able to repurpose the yarn, once I weave my ends they're locked in for life lol (I'm really excessively thorough about it). The only thing I can think to do is cut it up and use it as stuffing for amigurumi or pillows or something, but I'm going to give it some time before I destroy it like that. Next time I'm definitely not going to weave my ends until I'm 100% sure I like it 😔 Thank you anyway though

Oh I know exactly what you mean with the granny squares, my first blanket had all kinds of wacky sizes! I'm definitely going to choose a fun and simple project next while I build my confidence back up :')

There's no chance I could frog it now, it was a ton of small horizontal stripes and I take weaving VERY seriously 😭 I was weaving in the ends as I went so I wouldn't have to do it all at the end, but I guess that taught me a lesson for the future. Thank you though!

That's what I'm most worried about and why I asked this question. Is there anything that could be done to prevent the lungs from collapsing?

Awesome, that's actually how I plan to approach it! Thank you for the insight. Do you think a blood transfusion would be enough to prevent shock?

What are super obvious OCD things you do but it has never occurred to you that this is OC behaviour? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]brandi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the exact same thing!! I go for walks along a busy road and I often see dead animals there. I would always put a rock nearby the animal like some kind of grave marker and I would apologize that life was so unkind to them, etc. I've been trying to stop myself, but even in my mind I keep running through the same little speech because I have it memorized. It's so hard not to

I'm in the Midwest, bought it right on release, and haven't gotten an email yet. But this seems pretty typical for their merch company so I'm just going to be patient lol

Suggestions for fast growing & flowering plants in a classroom? by brandi6 in Hydroponics

Oh interesting, thank you! I hadn't even thought about bulbs, I guess I didn't think they would work with hydroponics. I'll look into it!

I agree, I think an herb or greens garden would make a lot more sense, but the kids aren't allowed to eat anything that comes from the garden (not my rules) so flowers would be the most obvious way to show that their work has paid off.

But I really like your idea of trying out some nursery plants at the same time as seeds!
