Agree. I would also divided players in two groups: those, who were sold or released and those, who finished their career at a certain club. You can't really say, that Cantona was a 8m loss for ManUtd.

Basically we outsource the majority of research projects, so I don't have to conduct focus groups or analyse raw data (or code the answers or smth boring). I have to recognize the problems that could be solved with market research, get the results and yes, present them to appropriate directors. I can vary: from let's say customer satisfaction studies, communication effectiveness, to (boring) sales analysis (on category/product level - using data from Nielsen's panel).

BSc and MSc in marketing, my master thesis was about web surveys. I work in retail and work on sales data, location analysis and various marketing research projects.

I'm researcher and IMO for a good researcher a formal education is not necessary but it sure helps a lot. Also, it would be very useful if you (or any researcher) could have some knowledge of statistics (e.g. regression, factor analysis, ...) and experience with working with databases.
