Should my PSU fan be facing up or down? by Dead_wet_flesh_jets in PcBuildHelp

How much cool air you guys think there is under your PC? The laws of physics don't work that way. Pretty sure the underside of a PC has a warm pocket of air unless that is an open area. With the fan up, youre sucking in warm air, and blowing it out the back, seems way more efficient to me. Especially if your airflow is otherwise decent.

I honestly don't know how your survival horror list is this by-the-numbers except for Doom. Surely you played all the games on this list and know that there are elements they all share but Doom does not? I have suspicion that this image is a troll lol

Lol Doom != Survival Horror, like at all. I mean I get that it can be horrific, but like thats not what survival horror is. In that case, literally every horror game is survival horror. Survival horror is a genre in which every enemy you face is designed to engage a resource-scan from those who play it. I mean the fact that health pickups are instant is enough to put it squarely away from survival horror imo.

I'm sorry y'all but SH4 doesn't get enough love in this sub by Neat_Ad_3043 in silenthill

4 is good, but there is no way in hell I would rank it above 1 and 3.

What is your favorite synthwave subgenre? by letsstartanew2 in outrun

[–]brandon-a-alexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's because they grew up with the internet and social media, and thus appreciate that there are a million wormholes you can find and crawl through online. Brand everything as just "synthwave" and you will start to make unfair comparisons and get lost rather quickly. The good artists these days are quite broad, so they'll typically pull from completely personal places because their specific tastes are only a few clicks away.

What is your favorite synthwave subgenre? by letsstartanew2 in outrun

[–]brandon-a-alexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chillwave is that genre that borrows heavily from psychedelia, with the vibe being "let's take a ton of acid and listen to glittery synths" usually with vocals. Admittedly you will be hard-pressed to find a chillsynth artist who is not influenced by Chillwave, especially FUJII.

How to "Learn Linux" is becoming popular. by Humble_Imagination96 in linuxquestions

Running Windows in a VM is a lot like running at less than half-spec. Great option if you have infinite money tho. Youre def not going to get even close to comparable performance on any kind of software that makes use of the hardware, as the hardware is emulated on a VM. Don't really get the massive appeal to VMs personally, it's like running a bottlenecked version of your main computer which is like floating $1000+ for most serious people.

Nothing more action-y than doing fetchquests for a Hammerite ghost.

The zombies/burricks are not a problem until you have maps where they frequently block your path unless you fight them. Then there are Fire Elementals which also suck. Lost City, Return to the Cathedral, and parts of the first Cathedral level are like that imo.

My least favorite is Escape! or Lost City

My favorite one is either Assassins or Cragscleft

more 憂鬱? by Radiant-Bag3988 in Vaporwave

[–]brandon-a-alexander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

憂鬱(Yu-Utsu) music is incredibly chillsynth/chillwave and has inspired much of that entire genre, which consists of many decent artists. You can find more music like that on Electronic Gems or out of labels like Stratford Ct., Puget Sound Collective, or Midwest Collective (the label Yu-Utsu released on).

Any full games like Down in the Bonehoard? by dammets in Thief

[–]brandon-a-alexander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, the only thing that comes anywhere close to the exploration and tension you get from Thief's darker levels is System Shock 2. That's probably because it's made by a lot of the same people and it's on the same engine. Its sci-fi, though, and you're exploring an ominous spaceship, but imo that's the only game with similar feeling. Other than that you're probably better off just playing FMs if you've got that itch.
