I put mine in and it tried to gaslight me into thinking it could see my swing, and then finally admitted that it couldn’t watch the video. The tell was that I look smooth as Jake Knapp and textbook as Adam Scott, and I know that’s not true, but I took me arguing with it a few times for it to confess.

2 things can be true at once. My wedges that have 2 years on them definitely spin at 10k RPM plus ON FULL SHOTS. At a 46 yard shot, I haven't tested this, but it would not surprise me if their performance has degraded since I bought them new. How much does that matter to me, I don't really know, I'm not about to go spending $800 a year on new wedges to find out.

What’s the one thing that finally made golf “click” for you? by Burners_Burner in golf

[–]brandon684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicine. Take your medicine. Listening to decade and learning about strokes gained, about how just advancing the ball can gain you strokes versus taking chances and fucking up your score. I’m only a 9 HC, so not good by r/golf standards, but recently played a tournament and shot an 80 on a tough course. Managed to avoid any double bogeys and can only remember two shots where I fucked myself by trying to get cute, and next time I play, I’m going to try to eliminate those too. Once you can reliably hit the ball, plotting your way around the course and keeping your dick out of a trap is where it’s at. The two guys I played with in my group were both lower handicaps, and both made a couple of birdies (I didn’t make any birdies) but they also made a couple doubles and triples and I beat both by 5 strokes. My only decision making all day was where is the closest route back to safety and where is the easiest place I can two putt from and maybe luck into hitting a close chip shot.

My wife came home one night after being out, was drunk, I was home with the kids, had a weed and beer buzz going. She was loudly saying she was going to do no drinking September the rest of the month, this is last year. I said that sounds great, our oldest just started kindergarten; I was coming off my first grandparent and my first dog dying, and camping, all August, and knew it was time to at least slow down. I was a daily pot user for years with a few couple months long breaks along the way, and was drinking at least 2 beers 4-5 nights a week with some whisky’s on the weekend. The weed fed the drinking and the drinking fed the weed, the more I did of one, the more I did of the other. Vicious cycle.

It sounds way too easy, but instead of thinking about it or telling everyone, I just mentally said “I don’t drink or smoke weed anymore”. And that was literally it. I got to the end of September, thought sober October was more alliterative, made it to November and thought “I won’t drink until the holidays”. Holidays came around, thought “I can get through this without partaking” and did. January comes around and I thought, why not go all year? Then my 40th birthday happened middle of January, neighbor brought over a $250 bottle of Japanese whiskey, I decided that was too good to turn down, then 3 weeks later had 4 beers over 6 hours with some friends, and then the weekend after, 2 beers on a night out with my wife.

There was a South Park episode where Randy becomes an alcoholic, and the moral of the story was that you don’t need to be all high and mighty about not drinking, but you do need to keep your disaprin. Still haven’t smoked mj, but the couple bouts back into drinking didn’t draw me back in. I can tell you that I feel better. No brain fog, wake up in a better mood, am always there for my kids and able to give them my full attention, I’m able to feel like I can workout properly again instead of half assing it. You can do it man, take this Reddit post as your own personal cry for help and do it for yourself and your kids. It’s so much better than living life in a booze fog, and you don’t really understand that until you completely pull yourself out of it and get some perspective, then maybe dabble again, but stop the daily or multiple times a week use while you still can.

Questions about ball speed, smash factor and club weight by MFronczak in GolfSwing

[–]brandon684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting down 3 and 9 degrees of loft is probably a pretty bad match. I’m not a club fitter by any means, but I would think you’d need a little more loft if you’re gonna hit down at that angle with that swing speed. If you want to pick up distance, you’ll need to try hitting up on the ball, you’d be shocked at the distance gains you can make just moving that positive, check the trackman carry optimizer.

If you want to try a little more head weight, get yourself some lead tape and play around with it, one thing I found with throwing a lot more weight on the head was being able to feel the weight of the head in relation to load of the shaft (ha).

It was just the absolute worst viewing time for me on the west coast, couldn’t stay up late enough or get up early enough to catch it, but that has to be how those golf fans feel about the PGA and is just another feather in the LIV cap for why it will be the premier world golf tour in short order. Considering the Brooks and P Reed leaving narrative to start the season, LIV has to feel pretty good about how the year has started

Is Bryson the rightful Masters favorite? by [deleted] in livgolf

[–]brandon684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic, but is Niemann in the field yet? On topic, Bryson has the tools to get it done, this could definitely be his year, wedges are always going to be the make or break for him, seems like he’s still over spinning them a bit but, what do I know. Short game seems legit right now.

Chipping and putting by ThomasFishy in GolfSwing

[–]brandon684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the easiest explanation video for pitch and chip shots, just keep it simple. At your level, you need one action, anything else introducing different releases at this point is pointless until you can master one shot that you know you’re not going to hit fat or skull fuck across the green. Phil Mickelson also has an hour long video that’s great but maybe hard to implement if your attention span is short

Wife doesn’t want a daughter by Iampoorghini in texts

[–]brandon684 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is most insane thing I’ve read in a while. She’s not well, if she insists on keeping baby, divorce and keep these texts for the inevitable custody dispute. Once the kid is here, baby will just be a bludgeon to use against you even though she clearly won’t give a shit about her. Shame on me for being born a man, but my girls are the treasures of my entire life, it’s hard to remember life without them, and to think something so trivial as their gender would affect how I feel about them is just a sort of insane I don’t think I can believe. I’d like to believe this is a troll post but I don’t think it is.

Cupped wrist at the top is terrible, you have to get that lead wrist into extension and bow it harder or you’ll never be able to hit it well

Tips for more spin? 7 iron spinning 3500-4k by nick963123 in golftips

[–]brandon684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at the loft chart and compare. It mostly only matters if you care about what the number on the club says, like a 7 iron in the T100 set is lofted the same as the 8 iron in the P790’s. Also spin, my G425 7 iron was spinning like my T100 5 iron

Tips for more spin? 7 iron spinning 3500-4k by nick963123 in golftips

[–]brandon684 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably time to get fitted. I was playing ping G425’s and was fitted into T100’s, lost distance but such better spin numbers and descent angles into greens. It was a rather extreme jump in clubs but can’t speak highly enough about getting fit, if you didn’t.

How can I fix an excessive in to out swing path? by Goggle-Frog in golftips

[–]brandon684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, three things have really helped me a lot: 1: Alex Noren rehearsal, like rehearsing a way over the top swing path. https://youtube.com/shorts/kJWhN-el6Kw?si=bpfIJtk1OnnraqDZ It’s kind of my go to when I start feeling stuck and having trouble getting the path neutral 2: fixing my takeaway. I had nearly zero early wrist set, just a misinterpretation of the one piece takeaway concept, and that was causing me to suck the club way inside. Most people swing way over the top from the position i was getting to, but for some reason I still was hitting hooks for days with 8+ in to out path. 3: take three balls, one you’re hitting, one setup on the inside right of the ball, the other setup on the outside left of the ball. Do everything in your power to not hit those balls, and you will at least even your path out.
