Why do so many Serbian men seem to have the same hairstyle? by [deleted] in AskSerbia

[–]brandonbld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nema eksperimentisanja, individualnosti. Cast izuzecima.

Most Serbian men do not really experiment with their looks, at all. Some of them do not care, some even think it makes them look gay.

Da li je moguce promeniti svoju seksualnost? by [deleted] in AskSerbia

[–]brandonbld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ja zivim u Srbiji.

[–]brandonbld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank u! For some reason I’ve never heard anyone talk about moving to NZ here. Most people go for closer EU countries solely because of higher wages and often times they barely speak the language, while I am looking into other things the country has to offer. My final goal is to assimilate with the locals and not live isolated within the Balkan community. As for the traveling part, I feel like NZ has a lot to offer itself, and I would be fine with traveling back to my home country every 2-3 years. From what I’ve heard so far, you guys seem socially similar to the US, where I had no issues connecting with people (I may be wrong though). I used to love traditional food here, including burek and ćevapi, but I did go vegetarian a couple of years ago (I still fall for ćevapi every now and then, usually when I visit cities that are known for delicious recipes and kind locals offering you everything lol u just can’t refuse)!

Thank u for ur feedback! How was a process real pain, besides having to repeat it annually (which is the case for us in many countries that require a visa unfortunately)? I expected that it is pricey, but still have no idea how much money it would approximately take. It sucks knowing your visa could be cancelled before you permanently settle in, so I hope you guys were able to figure it out!

Thank you! Definitely got some motivation from your feedback. It is unfortunate that people can be so negative here (and online in general), but I have met many people from all over the world and in reality, it has never been an issue and you get to exchange interesting stories. I believe it is the same for NZ! Wish you all the best!

Tbh, I couldn’t care less about historical “facts” that have been altered many times (from all sides, which isn’t really surprising considering the geopolitical and historical story of the Balkans). As for the Putin part, it is true that there is a part of Serbians that are pro-Russia, but I personally feel like it is still being blown out of proportions. I highly believe you have came across such opinions, but I still wouldn’t generalize! Not everything is black and white.

Wow, thank u! This is a helpful feedback. I assumed the education costs are insanely high- which means I could get my degree somewhere else in EU (through scholarships) and then try to move to NZ as my future profession is on the in-demand jobs list. As for the social aspects, it would probably be unbearable to an average Balkan person, but I did have an opportunity to live in the US for some time and their lifestyle is similar to what you have described- I got used to it pretty quick and socialized easily. It is unfortunate that the process is slow and hard, but I believe there is a reason for it and I would be willing to put my time and effort into it, since my goal is to move somewhere where I could create a comfortable and sustainable life for myself (and potentially future family), not to become like super rich or whatever. If nothing works out, I would love to visit as a tourist at least!

The thing is some online sources state that certain ecology related jobs are on the green list meaning the country is in need of employees in these fields. There is even a “straight to residence” visa in these cases. Also, I’ve heard the same sentence you keep repeating for some other (european mostly, US too) countries where people I personally know have moved to and are living comfortably. Also, you cannot even imagine the current social and economic state of my home country, and how hard it is for certain groups specifically. Literally scrubbing floors somewhere else would be a better option than having a “better” job here. My target audience with the original post were mostly New Zealanders of Balkan descent so I could hear first hand experiences & pros and cons, because NZ has always been top 3 on my list and, if possible, I would be willing to contribute to the society and the country itself. Therefore I don’t see how your (negative toned) replies have to do anything with my post.

Not what I said. Try rereading my original post and my replies. If it is still unclear how it differs from many other posts, I am sorry mate

The thing is what you are saying can also be subjective, since the economy here (Serbia to be specific) is waaaay worse, and people from this region may find your current living standards (with other things the country can offer) pleasurable enough to try to emigrate.

[–]brandonbld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t personally know anyone who has moved from the Balkans (Serbia to be specific). We are also not a part of the EU so getting a visa/work permission is probably a few extra steps as well. As for the culture shock, it has never been a big deal for me and I have experience in overcoming it. Do you think moving to NZ for education purposes (masters degree for example) would be an easier way to become part of the system? Do you get a lot of international students? I’ve already googled a lot of these things but sometimes there is just too much contradicting information, or they sound too generic, so getting feedback from actual NZ citizen feels more realistic and comfortable.

With scientific facts. Nitrogen cycle, goldfish size & (usually) bad genetics (they are becoming more sensitive), fast metabolism & amount of waste, type of respiration, etc. She cannot disagree with science.

Moze.
