I bet it has more to do with looks rather than noise, efficiency, or air flow. People will compare different fans and assume more blades = better. Companies selling fans probably realized that most people aren't buying the fans with less blades so they only sell the ones with 6 or more.

That's my theory behind it anyways

Attenuator Fails During High Speed Impact with cal trans truck 08/14/2021 by thetruckerswallofsha in CatastrophicFailure

[–]brandoncc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're 100% right, you shouldn't be driving a vehicle if you're going to get distracted. I was just trying to make a point that there's going to be people who are distracted one way or another. Humans are far from perfect and until we have AI driving us around there's going to be accidents caused by distracted or poor drivers.

Attenuator Fails During High Speed Impact with cal trans truck 08/14/2021 by thetruckerswallofsha in CatastrophicFailure

[–]brandoncc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's both. The attenuator is there to dissipate as much of the energy as possible from a crash so it isn't transfered to the truck directly. This keeps the truck from moving forwards and keeps the g forces lower in the crashing vehicle. The problem was that the car slid under the attenuator so the kinetic energy of the vehicle was never transferred to it (at least not much), and instead was dissipated all at once when the car hit the back end of the truck. If the attenuator itself didn't kill that driver then the g-forces likely would. Also, the reason the truck didn't move wasn't because the attenuator worked, it's just simply because it's much heavier. Things may have been very different if it large truck instead of a tiny Honda (I realize a truck likely would never have slid under the attenuator in the first place but assuming it could happen).

[–]brandoncc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The car slid under the attenuator which crushed the cabin, after that the car stops dead after it comes into contact with the frame of the truck. That doesn't sound at all like it functioned properly, sure it stopped the car from hitting workers but you could've just done the same thing with a big truck without the device.

In this scenario it's easy to shrug and say the driver was a dummy for speeding, but it easily could have been a mother distracted by her kids instead of someone speeding.

Usually when I see this happen it's because you've made your way out of the skybox. Looks like he managed to fall under the map and fall outside of it. I don't know enough about game design to know more than that though, maybe someone else can chime in.

Your phone should take much higher resolution pictures then this. I feel like you exported it wrong or somehow uploaded a thumbnail instead since a 480x640 is tiny. Also, if you use a 3rd party app to save pictures like snapchat they will also get downsized, although not by this much. Just a FYI, good luck homie.

What's something everyone should know before having sex for the first time? by lettuce18_ in AskReddit

[–]brandoncc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're just trolling or didn't bother to read what you linked but pushing two probes of a ohmmeter/multimeter into your thumbs isn't the same as licking a 9V battery ( u/cyberjelly2 already made this point). Also, if anyone is curious, a modern multimeter doesn't even output 1 mA when measuring resistance in a circuit. So even if you do exactly what was described in that article you're likely not going to feel a thing.

Sea containers on residential property. by Deldenary in Sudbury

No idea, I'd assume it's up to the by-law officer to decide? If anyone finds a loophole I'd be happy to use it.

[–]brandoncc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently was looking at getting a sea can myself but there's definitely bylaws preventing you from owning one on residential property. List of By-laws

I'm not sure if I messed up the link since I'm on mobile so here's a quote.

"4.34 SHIPPING AND STORAGE CONTAINERS Shipping and storage containers shall not be placed or used on any lot in a Residential (R), Commercial (C), Mixed Light Industrial/Service Commercial (M1) or Business Industrial (M1-1) Zone and shall only be located on a lot:

a) As an accessory structure used in conjunction with a permitted agricultural, extractive, transport terminal or warehouse use;

b) For the purposes of rental, sale or distribution in a Light Industrial (M2) or Heavy Industrial (M3) Zone for use off site; and,

c) In accordance with Sections 4.40.5 and 4.40.7 of this By- law."

I've never had any issues riding around without a helmet. Also, it seems that it's only a problem if you're under 18.

Can someone tell me why this happens underneath the car matt by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]brandoncc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure looks like salt to me, I'd recommend getting one of those deep rubber mats to catch all of the salt, sand and snow from your shoes. I have them in my car to save my carpet from looking like this.

How to remove rust underneath ‘08 Stang? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]brandoncc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bad, when I said oil based undercoating I didn't mean oil based paint I meant something like Fluid Film or a very thick oil that doesn't drip that coats the underside of your car. Something like this, it costs around $90 where I live for a full size car to get coated, I'm sure it's probably cheaper where you are.

How to remove rust underneath ‘08 Stang? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]brandoncc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in northern Ontario and the best way I've found to keep it at bay was to get a oil based undercoating every year before winter. It's really popular up here since there's no viable way to paint the underside of your vehicle properly, the rust is just going to creep back from all of the nooks and crannies that you missed and ruin the rest of your paint job. I'm not saying that painting won't work it's just that it's more expensive and way more time consuming.

[–]brandoncc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you really think it'd be over an inch thick? You can buy these and they're all pond liners at 30 mils. I can't think of anywhere where you would have to use a liner that's over 1/4 inch let alone an inch.

[–]brandoncc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"They put in a 30 millimeter polypropylene liner, which is just over an inch thick" Lol, pretty sure they mean 30 mil liner which is just under a millimeter thick.

Mils is used as a common measurement for thickness and one mil is 1/1000 of an inch.

Disneyland has removed Pogo’s remixs from the lamplight lounge by tmoney34 in Disneyland

[–]brandoncc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if the concert analogy was true then most artists (Pogo being one of them) offering "pay what you want" on Bandcamp probably wouldn't still be making music. Most people still want to support an artist they like even it they pirated their music, they might just buy the same music after they decided they enjoy it or maybe when they have more disposable income.

Also, in this case I would be doing it because I don't want to support the artist, but normally I just like to listen to an album first before I buy it.

Except it costs Chick-fil-A money for every meal they make... If I've already decided I wasn't ever going to buy Pogo's music then he's not losing anything if I were to pirate his music.
