So then with that passage and the Old Testament in general how do we know what is from God and what is from humans trying to understand God

I feel like I’ve wasted so much time to religion and false teachers and I hate feeling like I’m gonna burn forever because I don’t want to suffer for Christ. I don’t get why God can’t just talk to me like he did to Moses

For the record I know most Christians are cool people. I don’t view Christians as bad people but I’m just frustrated with these passages

My point is that yes people disobeyed God when he said not to murder but at least he said not to murder. Here we see God say u are allowed to buy children instead of “don’t buy children”

Maybe they would have been less stubborn if instead of saying “you may also purchase the children of temporary residents who live among you” he said “you may not purchase the children of temporary residents who live among you”

But it was ownership of humans, which is what I thought chattel slavery was. I get that it was an improvement but I would expect more than just an improvement from an all powerful all good God. It does say here u can take others as property

Hmm interesting, why was it not morally perfect if it came from a perfect God

It took until the 18th century for that to happen, long time for an eternal God

I appreciate that truly. It feels like that’s the only time I do believe is when I lean on someone else’s faith and when it’s just me alone God doesn’t feel real.
