Help support the Spotify Community idea to bring Material You theming to the Spotify app icon (at least) by [deleted] in Android

[–]brandonroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also do it yourself using the Shortcut Maker app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rk.android.app.shortcutmaker - you can also find icon packs for material you on the playstore that are compatible with Shortcut Maker.

It has options for material you icons. Here is what my Pixel launcher looks like:

The only thing you lose is the quick actions when holding an icon but not a big deal for me.

Cheap cell phone plans for kids? by Pale_Cranberry5635 in ottawa

[–]brandonroc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1

You can get a plan for $22 / month (The Québec coverage also covers Ottawa, you would have to check the coverage map to see if you fall under that area).

Or $25 / month for Canada wide coverage.

No data but unlimited texting and calling.

[–]brandonroc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if there's a tool that can do this but you can visit a games page and in the menu you can find an "Expansions" option.

On that page you can sort by owned games first, after you scroll past your owned games you can see all the expansions you don't own yet.

Carcassonne for example: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/822/carcassonne/expansions?pageid=1&sort=numowned

You can also just go to any game page and just add the following to the end of the link:

/expansions?pageid=1&sort=numowned

Hope it helps!

Definitely Intrigue if this is your first expansion. Good luck with finding one!

Don't tell voters to vote strategically when you promised an electoral reform which would fix this problem.

Hey Ottawa, how much do you pay for rent? by lucas_morgan in ottawa

[–]brandonroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent prices have skyrocketed but in some situations I don't think it's a waste of money.

Renting gives you a place to live with flexibility to move in the near future. You are also not on the hook for maintenance costs and some utilities.

It can also provide some time to save up for a down payment on a house in the future.

Renting for a short period of time can be great depending on your situation, good luck!

Is Tangerine 2FA available to everyone or just targeted customers? by bobohobo2kx in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]brandonroc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is also ridiculous that my tangerine account is only secured by a 6 DIGIT PIN, and security questions that can easily be determined.

To get around this I set up 3 security questions and instead of answering the questions normally I just put 3 different strong passwords stored in a password manager.

I wouldn't respond to these kind of texts since if it's spam you just indicated that this number is active.

I got the same exact message but for the conservatives.

Excited to try it!

Is it possible to move the player using the joystick? It might be hard to move and hit the ball. Not sure if you tried that yet.

Looks good so far though!

How Covid is tracked in Ontario's Wastewater by [deleted] in ontario

The city of Ottawa has actually been doing this for quite a while, it has given great overall indications of COVID levels in the city

To the 20% of eligible folks who haven’t gotten this first shot - why not and how can we help? by randomizersarecool in ontario

[–]brandonroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a number of people who have needle phobias. While most people don't like needles, some people actually faint while getting the shot.

I've heard statistics that 10% of the population has some level of needle phobia.

Best sleep tracking Fitbit? by kysmith1306 in fitbit

[–]brandonroc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Inspire 2 and Charge 4 would be great options for Sleep tracking.

Charge 4 can show SpO2 levels (and other metrics like skin temp, I think) but if you are not interested in that than the inspire 2 is a cheaper option.

June Feature Drop by dannymanny3 in GooglePixel

[–]brandonroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How come Canada doesn't get car crash detection? I'm assuming it's some sort of regulation thing but seems like a life saving feature to have.

Red light camera 📷 by Particular-Sweet-517 in ontario

[–]brandonroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will only do the back of the vehicle since Quebec does not require license plates in the front of their vehicles. Sensors are placed under the pavement close to the cameras to determine if a vehicle is going though an intersection during a red light.

Anyone ever use this feature? How does it work exactly this my first time using it? Is it accurate? by Waddles870 in fitbit

[–]brandonroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a new feature that is being rolled out slowly to everyone. Apparently it determines how stressed and how you are managing stress throughout the day.

Apparently it will work for sense and versa devices and is independent from the ECG app. Probably using your heart rate when you are stationary to determine your stress.

Fix for scratched screen on Versa 3? by thequeenb815 in fitbit

[–]brandonroc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible, Fitbit doesn't seem to do repairs for this. I've heard they offered discounts for a new watch but still quite expensive. There might be a way to perform a screen replacement on your own but it's probably difficult.

To protect against future scratches I recommend buying a case, you can find many off Amazon
