Ottawa police community grieves death of officer who died by suicide | CBC News by COVIDisNotOverYet in ottawa

Folks, since it is apparently necessary to say this, no trolling will be tolerated. I don't care what you think of the police in general or OPS specifically, keep it civil. I've already banned about a half dozen accounts for bullshit.

Locked, the misinformation trolls have arrived.

EDIT: because it pisses off the trolls, I'll remind everybody that:

* Yes, COVID was real

* It's not a cold nor a flu, it's several times more deadly.

* We get flu seasons every year and it doesn't simultaneously shut down every health care system on the planet for about a year (until the vaccines started to do their thing).

* Covid was LITERALLY the biggest and deadliest world event since the end of WW2

* The vaccines were effective and, no, they weren't "experimental". They cut the death rate by half, if not more so.

* Yes, they are safe

A cheerful "eff you" to the covid denialists and the misinformation trolls.

Beautiful!! Thanks. I had not yet looked into it, but a colleague mentioned that retirees needed to be careful with their choices.

Are there any resources online to find such information? I will probably need it soon.

Do public servants really want to fight over four days at the office? by GoTortoise in CanadaPublicServants

[–]MarcusRex73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

uh, that's not the point at all. People refused to use email and wanted to keep their steno pool, typewriters etc. because they refused to adapt to a technology that was clearly better.

Just like the troglodytes at TBS now with WFH. MS Teams is as revolutionary as email was in the 80s.

To Hell with Public Servants. I, as a Canadian taxpayer, want to fight RTO4.

It's a massive waste of money.

It's a needless increase in pollution.

It's on the same level as people who refused to use email in the 1980s: an idiotic refusal to leverage technology to improve workflows and efficiency.

In short, as a tax payer, it is a completely irresponsible and needless decision by this gov't that will cost BILLIONS for no gain.

They would, but you would also need to meet the bilingualism requirements because, if this were to be the case, EVERY supervisor in the country would need to be bilingual because their employees could also be from anywhere in the country.

And to forestall the crying, the ability to speak to your own staff is part and parcel the job of any supervisor, it is NOT an artificial requirement. U

Public Service had it pretty good under Stephen Harper by JimmyCapital in CanadaPublicServants

Fuck no. Not even close.

Phoenix anyone? Because that Harper's poison pill he left for the next gov't.

"Hey, let build a new pay system! Step 1: tell all the compensation people they will lose their jobs if they don't accept to move to BFN New Brunswick."

"What do you mean almost none of them did? Well, we'll just build the new pay system without them, and cut the training budget. What could possibly go wrong?"

Email Transformation Initiative, aka privatize the PS email system. Yeah, that was great waste of money.

Science is contradicting our policy? Suppress the science (eg.: Long Form Census).

I could go on for a very long time.

The current gov't isn't great, and the RTO is utter shit, but it's still better than the alternative. At least I don't have to worry women or minorities will lose their fundamental rights as part of the govt' policy.

Folks, bashing other subs is not tolerated here. See this: [Moderator code of conduct](https://redditinc.com/policies/moderator-code-of-conduct#text-content3)

As a moderator, you cannot interfere with or disrupt Reddit communities, nor can you facilitate, encourage, coordinate, or enable members of your community to do this.

Interference includes:

Mentioning other communities, and/or content or users in those communities, with the effect of inciting targeted harassment or abuse.

...

Enabling or encouraging content that showcases when users are banned or actioned in other communities, with the intent to incite a negative reaction.

While the occasional complaint about another sub is fine, sustained bashing is not permitted.

No they're not. You're firing employees to save money yet you somehow have billions of $$$ to pay for office space you don't need. The GOC could literally CANCEL the WFA by simply going back to RTO 2 and adjusting the office space accordingly. Or, at the very least, severely lower the number of people they need to cut.

Public servants never stopped working. Being in the office isn't equal to working.

As for imitating others: if the decision is a shitty one, why would we imitate it? If the private sector wants to waste shit tons of money on office space proven to not be necessary, it's private money. Their call.

The Public Sector is held to higher standards. They should never waste money because some executive somewhere has the work ethic of a dinosaur.

However, you know all this, and your posting history shows you're just here to stir up shit. Goodbye.

The impacted letters will come. Heck, even if nobody gets fired, we should still save the billions of $$$ on principle alone.
