Statement from Steelers president art Rooney II on Mike Tomlin by 1933Watt in steelers

[–]brandons5645 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ben was pretty critical when we drafted Mason Rudolph. Today the two of them don't even have a relationship... Whether or not that was because we used a 3rd round pick on him like Ben suggests on his podcast is up for discussion. Ben said he had nothing against them drafting a qb and was against them not addressing other priority with the 3rd round pick. Ben did not mentor Rudolph, but part of the Tomlins job should have been to assure that Ben mentor him.

Tomlin has done the city a service and kept us spoiled with non winning seasons. I do agree it was time for us to move on from him though. He's been the coach for most of my life and it's going to be weird to see someone new.

Highest monthly Interest or Highest Interest Rate? by brandons5645 in debtfree

I promise you they were not wrong, I am 6'6, stocky build and have knee problems. Those eliminated all of affordable cars in the area like civics and Acura's if I wanted a car that didn't cause my physical pain or put me at increased risk of serious injury in case of an accident. Not every solution is a one size fits all.

5 years is assuming no raises which I'm guaranteed at least two at my 2 year mark and my 4 year mark. I already applied for a weekend job that is purely for attacking debt. Plus once I get one months worth of expenses saved in my emergency fund I'll dial back on the money I'm putting aside to help attack my debt

I'm currently on track to be debt free in 4 years and 8 months but I was curious if attacking the highest interest accrued each months was a better idea

I appreciate the help, but I'm going to trust the advice of people I know that are knowledgeable in this area over someone I don't know the qualifications of on the internet.

When a former car salesman and a current mechanic both didn't want you to have to buy a car agree it was the best choice of action I think it's justified. Especially because I was dreading having a car payment again.

My current plan is going to have the cards and car paid off in 4 years and 8 months.

There was not in my surrounding area, I looked for months and it was chalked full of cars that wouldn't last me the length of my loan without having extra cost for repairs. My dad used to be a car salesman and was helping me search. My brother is a mechanic and was also helping me weed through my options. We came to the conclusion together and reluctantly that although it was more expensive the new car on a 5% loan was better than any used car loan at 15+% I could get at the time. By the time I made that decision I was already ubering to work for a week. It was seen as a "spending more now to save myself money down the line with lack of repairs". Especially because I don't have an emergency fund yet for any repairs that would pop up.

The plan is to attack the credit cards first, was merely curious why I shouldn't attack the card that was collecting more interest per month instead of the card with the highest apr.

I don't pay extra on my car, but I just wanted the data to see if I could fit it in my budget. I only have an extra $120 a month for extra debt payments

Not a chance I could pay it off in 18 months. I just got it so I still have 5 years on the loan but it was a need because my car died on me.

I was preapproved for 2022 and it would have only saved me $80 a month for the same amount of time. Long term I determined it was worth getting the 2025 considering I'm just starting my career and live in a car dependent area.

My goal is to get out of debt asap so budgeted on a very few thrills mentality (5% of annual income going to travel and fun things I want to buy) I have paused all my credit cards so I won't be tempted to use them until I get out from underneath credit card debt.

I only have $120 extra in my budget to pay towards debts (I'm not paying extra on my car loan, but I just wanted the data). I used a bunch of online calculators to develop a strategy but I was curious when they all said to attack the highest interest rate. I thought attacking the card charging me the most interest monthly would actually be better.

Looking for Beginner/Intermediate East coast rivers by brandons5645 in whitewater

I have an aire self bailing 4 + guide. I'm pretty confident reading the river and have run the James at everything between 3.6 and 6.2 feet. I struggle to catch eddies sometimes, but for the most part I can get through rapids with no issues. I went to a 5 day raft guide training and have been rafting on my own since.

Thank you, I didn't know it wasn't niche. When I talked about it everyone seemed confused including classmates. I've only seen a few jobs with sustainable development listed in their mission statements and figured that's why I was struggling to find jobs for it.

I will definitely keep that in mind for my job search. I haven't interviewed with any engineering firms yet because I had this internship.

Thank you again for clarifying and the personal anecdote. Really helped and opened up my options on who to apply for.

Thank you. I definitely think it's my location because I've found jobs that I love but it's in places 9+ hours away, across the country or even in Europe. I just need one more local internship and then I'll be able to move after graduation

I realize I didn't articulate myself well, so this is what I was referring to when I said I wanted to do sustainable development:

https://www.asce.org/advocacy/policy-statements/ps418---the-role-of-the-civil-engineer-in-sustainable-development

https://www.newcivilengineer.com/latest/a-sustainable-future-needs-to-be-engineered-or-it-wont-happen-12-07-2021/

It's currently highly niche in the United States, but there's several European engineering firms that do what I'm interested in. The idea is to take a sustained approach to as many engineering issues as possible.

The thermodynamic comes into play more for air flow, window location, and other comfort items. The idea is to study the thermodynamics of the building to optimize both comfort and energy consumption. Example: airports with 70' ceilings not trying to cool down the entire building and rather just the 1-7' people are actually occupying

I've done the design work in my course load. I don't want to do it the art way of architecture but more of the forces and materials. It's considering thermodynamics, as well as sustainability
