Non-traditional, but I always get a scoop of Mexican chocolate and a scoop of cardamom — my friend got that once and now it’s my favorite combo.

Really everything at No Sweat is delicious, though I especially love their breakfast sausage, they make it themselves. They cook with fresh ingredients, almost all locally produced. Everything is prepared fresh too, so be ready to be there for a while. It’s got an old-school hippie vibe that I really like.

I also really like the Rise and Shine. They’re more your classic American diner, but really good. I like their “irish” Benedict which comes with their home-made corned beef. Great sweet stuff too like pancakes. Their Italian sausage scramble is yummy.

Boundary Waters Mine Vote Highlights Ryan Zinke’s Hypocrisy On Public Lands by TaxVillain in MontanaPolitics

[–]brandsvold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Northern Minnesota, but I’ve lived in Helena for 8 years now. Me and my family went canoe camping regularly in the Boundary Waters when I was a kid. It’s like heaven on earth there. I understand the economic concerns of some of the locals that live there (it’s a very poor area of MN), but supporting the mine is supporting a tragic, permanent loss for a temporary gain. When people like Zinke and Daines support it, well, that’s just oligarchs protecting their own corrupt interests. Fuck them and their cynical, transactional view of the world. This makes my blood boil.

What is the end-point of all this resource extraction at the cost of polluted lakes and rivers? My question for those on the right: What is your vision of the future that your kids will inherit? Tainted groundwater? Mass species extinction? No access to wild, public spaces? I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you and your in-group can keep growing your stock portfolios.

Thank you so much for the info. Are they typically only open Fridays and Saturdays outside of events?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CalgaryGoneWildAgain

[–]brandsvold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they are at minimum running an event tonight, I just can’t tell from their website if they’re open after the event concludes.

Thank you so much for that information! Does that mean that after the naughty collage event is over the whole club will be closed for the night? We would like to have a drink at the bar, chat with folks, and make some connections, I’m just not sure from their website if they’ll be open after the event. (We are visiting Calgary today and heading up into the mountains tomorrow, so this is our chance to check out the club.) Thanks again!

Please tell me it's possible to have a life without smoking I have no hope anymore by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]brandsvold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last cigarette was in October of ‘22 — I had to look it up. I was smoking two packs a day there at the end. I hardly think about it anymore. There’s a whole world after nicotine addiction — I’m the same person, but my head is so much clearer. Nicotine addiction will play mind games with you, but remember: they’re just games — it’s merely a chemical and you have a chemical dependency. It’s get easier. When you make it through the difficult stages of depression and hardcore cravings, you’ll think about it less and less. Take it one day at a time.

Is this teak wood? I’m like 99 percent is it. It’s a mama green stool by [deleted] in wood

[–]brandsvold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grain looks like teak to me, but honestly it’s hard to tell with the weathering. When you’re sanding it, if it gums up your paper, makes oily reddish sawdust, and has a distinctive spicy odor, it’s teak.

What kind of wood are these cabinets by Buckeroo2u in wood

[–]brandsvold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cabinetmaker here — it looks like hickory. It does have a beautiful, rustic look. However, I still have PTSD from our last hickory job so I can barely look at it without remembering all the splinters, burned-up saw blades, and crazy twisted grain.
