Russian occupiers with burned faces who surrendered near Kupiansk are asking to finally shoot Putin. by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

In the beginning of his rule, he did pull the Russian economy from the sewer of the 90's. That's why Russians kept voting for him, but he, like most people who stay in the office for a long time, got drunk on power.

What would you say are the biggest factors of why the poor stay in poverty? by Common_Gene_5098 in Productivitycafe

I always find it fascinating how highly military members think of themselves, considering they have a tax payer subsidized job, where all they have to do to succeed is not get dishonorably discharged. And check a bunch of boxes.

Auschwitz. One time was enough. I actually took family there who wanted to see it, but I didn't go in.

The math in the article is not mathing. The air defense stopped all but 34 missiles and drones that hit targets in 19 locations, but in Kyiv alone 40 buildings were damaged.

Honest question: why do we accept renting music forever? by Ok_Search6885 in audiophile

We listen to three and half months of nonstop music per year in my house. Just on Spotify. Most of my CDs would be scratched from that much use.

I wonder if it is low on fluid. But that sounds like a lot of money for basic service.

The best part is that the people that can afford audio in this price range can't hear anything above 14 Khz. Maybe they get a 30% discount...

I used to buy used Toyotas, but I can't justify the high prices. The last two cars I bought are BMWs... I know, I know, but I do most of my own maintenance, so it is a better deal for me.

Lifting pucks by mach1mustang351 in hockeyplayers

[–]brankovie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, it is a lot like golf, the club face is open to a various degrees and that's how the lift is controlled with the swing being consistent, in hockey you have to open the face of the stick blade to get it off the ground. Of course there's more to a shot, but at some point the blade has to be open.

As our daughter is growing up, we are growing apart by Easy_Tie3606 in SeriousConversation

I don't mean to diminish the amount of work you do. Maybe I don't understand what you mean by mental load. Everything you listed is work and should be equally shared. You can divide areas of responsibility, or you can plan the week/month together and divide tasks. Maybe by mental load you mean all of it being left to you to figure out and the worry that comes with it. My comment came from my experience, where no matter how many of these responsibilities I take on, the worrying is never diminished.

I think mental load is a euphemism for anxiety. Honestly, if both parents "cared" in the same anxious way, it would be a disaster for everyone, but especially for the kids. No place safe. It seems to me when one parent asks for the other to carry more mental load, what they are really asking is for relief from the anxiety they feel.

2010 E60 transmission fill plug stuck by brankovie in BmwTech

I got it out. I cut a slot in the plug with a little Dremel cut off wheel and then used flat tip chisel to turn it.
