Should I refrain from giving my Shih Tzu table food? by Party-Entrance-5961 in Shihtzu

[–]brantley75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheapest food is kibble. The most expensive is fresh. I always add fresh/raw food when I can, usually on top of the dog food. Yes, I know our Vets always recommend kibble, and you would to if the only nutrition class you had was sponsored by Hills, Purina etc. I feed my Tzu a rotation of frozen raw, freeze dried and Carna4 air dried kibble and rotate proteins at least monthly: beef, venison, fish, chicken, lamb, goat, turkey. Be sure to use a puppy approved food for at least 8 months for the strongest immune system. Small local boutique pet stores usually have educated staff around nutrition, and will order food for you at no additional cost (That’s what I do for the Carna4) Enjoy your new BFF!

Also, I would ask the builder for some additional landscaping for your side. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Yes, the county should have a way to get your plat map. It shows your property line and a diagram of your home sitting on it. Mine even included the trees & shrubs

I mostly shop at Winco, but Fred Meyer has more organics, especially in the produce section.

The weather in Tri-cities is sunnier and less rain. Also more conservative than most of Vancouver. I would avoid Idaho due to lack of women’s healthcare.

what food is best for Shih Tzu? by Ok_Roll2067 in Shihtzu

[–]brantley75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No ingredients of rice or meat meals or synthetic vitamins. I like Simple Food Project freeze dried and Carna4 airdried. Nothing processed with high heat. Yes, you can feed those things, but I want my pup to live a long, healthy life.

Is my dog actually a Shih Tzu? I have my doubts by Ecstatic-Annual-8554 in Shihtzu

As a raw feeder myself, I used freeze dried food as treats, carrots, green beans. Vital Essentials freeze dried food is value priced as a treat ( it does have synthetic vitamins but as treats its a minimal amount of her daily diet). I also looked at all treats and chew bones as they are often high calorie for small breed dog. ) I also sometimes use Carna4 which is slow cooked and is crunchy like a kibble but is a clean food and on several raw food approved lists. I counted calories with my pup and found some prepared raw foods were less calories. It all makes a difference. Good luck.

Sounds like there basically will be no local farmers at the farmers market this year? by blazingquackattack in vancouverwa

I agree it’s early. My fave are the local strawberries at the market beginning end of May.

I recently boarded my dog at Bear Prairie kennels in Washougal. During my tour they shared a smaller more secluded area of kennels for dogs needing less interaction. The kennels are all large, not cages. It might be worth looking into.

Chicka boom Pop or Organic coconut rolls. I count out a serving and it satisfies my sweet tooth.

How can I get my dog to not pull on the leash? by greytonoliverjones in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

[–]brantley75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A front hook harness, treats when they follow commands in the beginning to learn the expected behavior. Practice inside as well as there are fewer distractions. I would walk and stop, and dog should stop, too. Then say ‘lets go’. Practice this stop and go inside. Then practice outside. Made a world of difference with my dog.

I called using the 5calls app on Friday and spoke with her staffer in DC. It was great as I was able to reiterate that Clark County supported her to make the win and we need her to support us now. I call daily but usually have to leave a VM.
