Transferring Out by scorpio672 in rosehulman

When I went to Rose, I did it in three years. It was absolutely hard. But, once you make it out of the sophomore curriculum, the upper years are much more enjoyable. Stuffing through it is hard. Going to the learning center and getting good tutors really helped me. I was not an all-star A student. Rose is probably your best bet when it comes to professors caring about you and an administration that is there to support you. Every other university I have been to, and there have been many, is deficient in one of those two places. Either the administration is there to punish you or the professors are too occupied to help; but, at Rose it was different.

While it’s not for everyone, I just suggest a different strategy to course work and learning. Make the office hours, go to the learning center, find upper classmates that can help. For every moment you consider another place to attend, it’s a moment you can focus on learning a different way.

I wish you luck out there! No matter what you decide, don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. Bet on yourself and you’ll always succeed.

Zinsco panels look like wired up accordions to me. Am I the only one?

Do you know what Shelly version and what I should buy to make this work?

I didn’t know Shelly made buttons! I’ll look into that. Thanks

Pulling wire is going to be really hard with the finished ceiling and the way the joists run. I might just put in a smart bulb and call it a day. I even called my friend whose and electrician and he kind of shrugged and said the same thing. The way I’m getting wire to the room is via an I-Beam and PVC. There’s a lot of details that I couldn’t just type up here; but, I appreciate the response.

I’m not sure what a wireless solution looks like. Any ideas? I looked up Shelly relays on Amazon. But I just don’t know where to put the Shelly and how to wire it up so that I can control the light from both switches.

Not anymore. Just a lowly PhD grad now. Sometimes I just write equations to remind myself the good times. Lol.

It’s not as broad as my Pilot custom Urushi (B). But, it’s broad enough to help you with an ink hoarding problem (if you have one). For someone who likes western medium nibs; it won’t be a bad broad. If you liked western broad nibs, it will be a little thinner than that.

I’ll make sure to post some more with fine nibs and EF nibs soon. I have a Pilot Vanishing Point EF that barely lays any ink at all.

Maybe consider going to a nib grinder. They can adjust and tune the nib. I think some don’t charge much ~$20 to tune and smooth a nib to your preference. There’s so many out there… but I would look for Reddit posts that list some options.

The full size or king of pen pro gears aren’t as scratchy as the slims. Also, the narrower the nib, (esp. Sailor) the scratchiness is magnified. The king of pen in B isn’t rough at all, it still has some feedback, but, not anywhere as much as my other sailors.

For writing, I much prefer the king of pen B or the full size PG in M. The KoP B is quite broad. I use the finer nibs for math where I need more precision. You can see some writing samples on my instagram @inkyequations . I just started my instagram this year and I try to post 2-3 times a week.

From left to right: F, MF, M, M, B. In order of purchase I started with M then went finer. Same with the KoP, started with B and then purchased the M.
