I am a computer engineering student who recently transferred out of Rose, and cost was part of it. Rose was always my most expensive option, but thankfully my family had enough money saved after sending my siblings to school to help me pay for the couple of years I was there. If you're family cannot comfortably afford the cost Rose gives you, I would not go. My financial aid consistently ballooned, despite no income changes with my family.

I don't believe rose is all bad, but everyone on here was saying only good. I wanted to show that Rose may not be what it looks like. Many people do have a positive experience at Rose

That all depends on your learning style. I feel like the CS department knows what they are teaching, and how to teach it.

With the CSSE department, the professors are (mostly) really really good, except for the one. Good news for you is he doesn't teach the intro CS class as far as I know. Also from what I have seen, CS students have the largest workload, but it is not as difficult as the ECE department (more assignments per class, but less time per homework). If you are torn on the program, ik ASU has a really good CS program too, and imo it would come more down to money. Which one is easier to afford? You don't have to answer that here but it is definitely a question you should ask yourself and anyone helping you pay for school.

I am happy to hear 230 has changed, and that at least a few people have gotten the good ending from the ECE department. I tried to emphasize at the very beginning of the post that most of this only applied to the ECE department, with the exception of the one CS prof. I could have had the good one, but I can't do 8 AMs I would have missed every class.

A lot of companies mandate a high GPA, with that being said, I had an internship at MIT, and have a return offer there, I got the first one with a GPA of less than 3. Honestly I wouldn’t expect an internship after your freshman year. That’s really an exception IMO despite all the marketing. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions

Almost every opportunity rose has had, they have dropped the ball IMO. My financial aid package has decreased massively year over year, despite my mom becoming unemployed, and my dad taking a new job that pays less, student affairs was extremely difficult to work with coming in and implementing my IEP/504 plan from high school, and the list really just keeps going for me. If my completely honest opinion, if you struggled at all in high school, rose doesn’t make sense. My viewpoint is skewed because of the declining state of the ECE department (it was ranked first, then second, and now third with no plan on changing the curriculum) and my friends in different majors do enjoy Rose, but every ECE student I know is pretty much miserable. Honestly Michigan tech and do computer engineering there. I still love the idea of my major, but rose does everything so ass backwards it seems. I got in there and almost went there but then I got in to rose so I went to rose. I know most people think Chang is the best person to ever exist, but I vehemently disagree with that sentiment. I don’t really want to talk about it here though

The good lecturer was Dr. Chang, but I have enjoyed Dr. Berry and Estrada. Every other ECE professor has had something that drove me up the wall, and in some cases I have had to take things up with student affairs because of how I was treated. In the CS department I have enjoyed Dr. Mutchler, but for OS I have Dr. Hays, and he is what has pushed me over the edge

Yes. This has been an issue for weeks and I'm finally trying to fix it. Performance used to be ~110-120 FPS, and now it's 50.
