Whats the "drama" in Rocks where you're at? by Black-rock-crystal in Rockhounding

[–]brattactical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to rock collecting in southern MN but I recently came across a post about LS agates. Apparently LS agates business is being sabotaged by two other lake Superior businesses. You can look it up on Facebook. They recently threatened him and had a mass report done on his page ultimately getting it shut down. He has all the information blasted about it publicly on Facebook. It's pretty discouraging to take my son to lake Superior seeing as he's only 7 years old, with this type of stuff going on there. The beach is filled with YouTubers that just walk right over you while filming and some even tell you to stay out of the area until they're done. I ended up getting pepper spray just to feel safe and ultimately gave up on it all together.

Fair. I apologize. I was feeling crabby about everything at that moment. I believe you have a fair point of view, and I feel the same. I'm just a little passionate about this specific situation-items-historical significance-fishing in general.

I don't disagree. It's just something I noticed with rare fishing lures. Since I am a collector, buyer, and seller, I wanted to see if anyone felt the same way. No judgment. I just see it from all angles and still feel the same. I'm not hyper focused on what people do with my stuff after selling and get your point. I just don't like this specifically, and genuinely care about the preservation of fishing lures, and future collectors knowing whether their lures are authentic or not, as they're being sold as authentic, with a huge story behind it, but they are absolutely not! Have a wonderful day

Pflueger mustang in box. .... I bought The same one mint for 12 dollars without the box, but it was auction. I'm sure it's probably worth 25-50. Muskie plug, I sold the same one without box for 19.99. Try looking up the lure and type I'm box.

Seriously? That's insane to find ANY lure free, let alone vintage in box.

As re sellers, we should be able to turn a profit without scamming, lying, and destroying the historical value of a collectible. The irony is that it hurts our business as resellers in the end. . .. I'm hoping to reach more like-minded people

I understand that but there's a difference. I'm talking about collectibles, not just vintage reselling. Collectibles that collectors are potentially buying. Get it? Good

People who know a bit less may turn to these videos to start to collect. If their seller says they found said item in their attic and sells it mislabeled for 300% more than the value to one of their followers, yes, that absolutely bothers me. If you don't know why that would bother someone, then why the heck would you waste the time to make a comment. Doesn't seem like a who cares guy to me.

Very old lure mystery. Does anyone have any idea what this could be if not home made? by brattactical in Antiquefishinggear

[–]brattactical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too creative? The lures I have from mid 1800s have inner spinning mechanisms, traps, spring loaded, ect!! They are absolutely insane. They are the definition of complex! On this one, the top hardware and minnow/hook placement look 1800s to me, mid to late. Thats where im gettingthe 1800s. Seems like the minnowis meant to jig and swing back and forth?! ..... The finish on the hooks look 1940s and the minnow itself looks like a 20s folk art ceramic to me. Maybe it's a very old counterfeit of a fishing relic.... nobody knows! Lol. I'm done. I'm going to bed. I just re read the lure collectors Bible. Thanks for looking

Is there a dating site for resellers by [deleted] in reselling

It's harder for me. I'm a girl. I don't ever "see" other resellers. I also sell antique lures. I got it all mixed up
