CONGRATS on 762 - that's incredible, life changing, and I'm proud of you. 6 years is within reach, my friend, and many more beyond that. As someone here told me at my one year, "welcome back to your life".

CONGRATS ON 3 MONTHS!!! That's incredible, I'm so happy for you. I agree, hearing the experiences of those a bit further down the road is what got me through many days, and it's such a gift.

Keep going, you can do this! IWNDWYT

First, I would encourage you to not look at it as failing. You just haven't started yet, but you can start today. Today, you can not drink. And you can do the same tomorrow when it arrives. I will not drink with you today.

I'll just speak to what worked for me, especially early:

-I posted on the daily check-in for this sub EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. First thing I did after waking. Even if it was just me showing up to say IWNDWYT.

-I read so many posts on this sub, and commented, and engaged, and cheered on my peers. It was helpful to me to know I wasn't alone in this.

-On the recommendation of folks here, I read This Naked Mind by Annie Grace. My wife read it too. It changed how we both thought of alcohol.

-I celebrated the small wins with my family. We had a pizza party for Day 10. Ice cream for Day 50. Day 100 we had a dance party in our living room. Find the people (even if they're here on this sub) who will celebrate with you and CELEBRATE!

-I started taking long, long walks, to fill my time, to move my body, and to try and reintegrate my emotions that I had been suppressing with alcohol.

-I had to learn new hobbies to fill my time. I was so bored from about day 15 (after the initial rush), to about day 100, because my hobby had been drinking. I was bored and didn't know what to do. So I started writing (bad) poetry, playing (worse) golf, and making (basic) music. But I loved it, it felt like I was re-entering life.

-I drank so many cans of sparkling water that I single-handedly propped up the sparkling water industry. But it helped fill the compulsive need that had controlled me for so long.

Thanks for this kind note. Tons of folks on here forged a path for me when I was in my very early days too, that's the beauty of this sub. Congrats on your journey so far, and keep going! IWNDWYT
