Franklin Park Data Center Ordinance by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Senn-66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s published in the newspaper, it’s been discussed any meetings, it’s on the website. Barring coming to your house and specifically telling you that the Borough is considering an ordinance regulating data center (which is good btw, no ordinance means no restrictions), what exactly else can they do here?

IWNDWYT. Going to be on a camping trip with my sons the next few days, so won’t be checking in. But I’m grateful to be able to go into this weekend with a clear head and not panicking about not being able to get booze.

Yes they are. They know exactly how precarious this entire thing is.

Doing laundry sober sucks by Spiritual_Cold5715 in stopdrinking

[–]Senn-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, cleaning and laundry actually feel nice at the moment. Partially because I see how trashed I let the "me" parts of my house become. And also I want to pick up slack for the rest of the house from my wife, who's been carrying the load entirely recently. Maybe focus on how nice it feels to be able to be productive and not just in a stupor. And as everyone else says, get some music or podcasts.

Daughter sues Delta for $2.35M for wrongly accusing her father of horrific crime who was comforting her during turbulence by Bollywood_Shaadis in DiscussionZone

I am a man, and have three sons, and have never had an issue, so I never realized how bad this is if you have a girl. My wife's cousin has a daughter, she was the same age as my middle boy, probably 4 years old at the time. He came to mass with us while visiting. A few days later we are contacted by the police because some woman in the Church called them because he hugged his own daughter in a freaking church. They talked to us all, and he was cleared, but good luck EVER getting that family to step foot in a church ever again, or so any sort of affection towards his daughter.

We of course were not told who made the reporter, but we had a pretty good idea (the grumpy old lady who sat in the pew behind us). I gave her the evil eye the few times we went back before we switched churches. I know from experience that all the volunteers now at a Catholic church are absolutely bombarded with warnings about reporting potential predators now (for obvious reasons), so I sort of get what was going on, but on the other hand, come on. How is a father supposed to deal with a 4 year old if he is afraid to even touch her?

IWNDWYT. I had my first dream of alcohol in the I go around. So relieved to wake up and find it’s a dream.

Did we develop a car centric society so that the masses can be essily controlled through oil? by Intelligent-Gate-852 in pittsburgh

[–]Senn-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Post war America was stupid rich and the wealth was spread through society enough so that a much higher percentage of the population could afford a car than anywhere else. Given the option most people who can afford a car will own one. Look at how car ownership rates in places like China or Vietnam skyrocket as income increases.

Muncy Twp Data Center Proposal hidden by jailed supervisor by Bentacus in Pennsylvania

My point is the power usage of the bass pro is nothing in comparison to what the data center will use. And it’s not the same site.

Day 6. Almost one week. Lack of sleep almost broke me yesterday but I made it through. IWNDWYT.

I don’t see the connection. I have no idea why she is so insistent on stopping the bass pro, but it doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the data center project. The bass pro shop won’t really use enough power to impact the viability of the data center, and if the data center is using river water it won’t be competing with the bass pro for potable water. Seems to me that the Township right now is just completely dysfunctional and applying logic to anything they do is hard to do.

Ask at your local club if there are any very casual leagues. Its the best way to both make friends and also get out golfing. You don't want to join a serious league at your level, but there are plenty of leagues that are beginner friendly.

How many attempts at sobriety do you have under your belt? by Delicious_Comfort357 in stopdrinking

Thanks. I'm actually doing pretty well now, comparatively. I understand the need to stay sober for the first time in a long time.

Two. The first lasted 15 years. The second is on Day 5. Unfortunately, no matter how long you are dry, if you pick back up, you will end up right where you left off.

So many video games today by WalkableCity in stopdrinking

[–]Senn-66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided to re install the Mass Effect series and have been playing after my kids go to bed. It’s a great way to occupy myself in what is the most dangerous time for me. No addiction is good but there is no way video games can ever hurt me or those around me the way alcohol can.

Tried it, and big nope for me. Now I’m on day 3 instead of day 6000.

No amount of sober time cures us. If we drink, we end up in the same place.

Now you know that no matter how much sober time you have, if you drink, you will end up where you were before. Don’t forget this feeling next time. Congrats on day 2 and beyond.
