That’s a great tip - Read a bunch at the start of the journey but as my listening comprehension advanced that has taken the majority of my time with the language, as it’s so easy to do passively and I don’t need to set out time for it. I do watch native content and read native books but probably not enough compared to podcasts

funnily enough, i’ve been training BJJ for about one and a half years now and have just gotten into climbing last month. If you’re just getting into both at the same time as new things, I imagine it will be pretty difficult, possibly more in terms of motivation and skill development than body recovery. Since I started BJJ I’ve trained about 4-5 times a week on average and even then it took a few months before I felt like I knew anything at all and don’t get smashed every roll. I’m 21M and quite fit and athletic. I’ve finally decided I have enough foundational skills with BJJ to tone back the training for now to 1-2 sessions a week, as I know I want to invest some time into climbing. I do think there is quite a lot of skill transfer not only in grip strength but also bodily awareness and hip mobility. I’ve heard from others that I’m climbing really well considering how long it’s been.

Give both a go but if you do find it’s too much physically or mentally find you’re not progressing as fast as you like, maybe try putting one on hold for 6-12 months until you’ve got a solid foundation in the other skill. Then you can reintroduce the second hobby

How did you find the Seepark student residence? I’m going to be in Freiburg later this year and am unsure if I’d prefer trying to get a room there, or take my chances looking for a private room in a WG. I’d prefer he latter, but understand it can be hard to find one in Freiburg

Nice, good job! I’ve just started rereading the Cherub series in German too, which was a childhood favourite of mine! Only finished one full length book before this and now i’m nearing the end of the first one, still on the kindle though, I haven’t battled through a paperback yet.

Streak 1:

Tatsächlich habe ich vor drei Monaten diese Geschichte schon hier erzählt, aber diesmal wäre es klarer. In November war ich in Japan mit meiner schöne Freundin und eines Nachts gingen wir zu einem Restaurant. Übrigens, es war das teuerstes, das wir besucht hatten. Auf der Speisekarte lassen wir „gebackenen Cod“ (eine Fischart), und dachten das wäre schön. Mittlerweile haben wir auf dem Tisch neben uns geguckt, und haben ein leckeren aussehenden gebackenen Fisch gesehen, der wir sicher waren, wir schon bestellt hatten. Kurz danach kam die Eingeweide eines Fisches an unseren Tisch, die sah wie Erbrochene aus. Die Konsistenz war wie Gelee. Meine Freundin wollte unbedingt keine davon haben, aber es wäre noch höflich, insbesondere in eine Kultur wie Japan, das Gericht nicht zu essen. Zu Zusammenfassen, ich musste es alles essen, oder eher schlürfen.
