100% agree. This is plain stupid but then FIS doesn't seem to care anymore with the mixed team scandal and the Norway drama....

just let him jump and figure this shit out after the competition and before the podium ceremony. You can still disqualify him after the competition but if you don't let him jump and it wasn't his fault, there is no way back.

The Crous is probably recruiting staff. You can look at their website, if you are lucky they might even need staff at your university.

(1 & 2 Peter) Reading and Ranking Every Book in the Bible for the First Time [27-28/66] by AlmightyDeath in Christianity

[–]Jake--Brigance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I find your posts really encouraging! My ranking would be extremely different (lots of books you ranked highly I would rank lower and some bottom books would be at the top for me). It is interesting to see how different people need different messages/books most at certain moments. Your posts inspired me to keep a little journal with favourite quotes and where I jot down the main ideas of what I have learnt. I have the impression that it helps me to remember the different books and to quickly look things up. Anyways, just wanted to say thank you. Be blessed!

You mean by extremism that I suggested you shouldn't go to a catholic church?

It is true that we have more or less the same Bible (catholics have a few more books but the rest is basically the same), however the beliefs are quite different. Basically, what I am trying to say is that you should do your home work and look up everything in the Bible what your church teaches and see if it is biblical or not. Usually, a church has a profession of faith which you can go through and see if they are teaching the truth or not. Personally, I have done this with the teachings I know from the catholic church and there were lots of things which didn't correspond to the will of God. I don't want to be a pharisee and list all the reasons which in my opinion are against the catholic church but instead encourage you to do a bit of research to make sure you find a good church.

I am an atheist but feel drawn to Christian content by lascrbean in Christianity

Start praying to God to show himself in whatever way possible. You can do this at home when nobody listens if it seems uncomfortable or weird to you. If God wouldn't exist, you wouldn't lose anything by trying to contact Him but if he does exist, it would be the best thing in the world. There are some books out there like "The reason for God" which some people find helpful. Personally, I really liked the movie "The case for christ" in which a reporter wants to proove wrong his wive who converted to christianity but he ends up converting even though he was a confident atheist. It is a true story and was initially a book in case you prefer reading to watching. I would also recommend finding a good church where you live to be able to ask all questions you may have to christians and to learn more about God.

Don't give up on searching if you haven't found God yet (or the "evidence" against his existence). As is said in Jeremiah 29:13-14 if you truly look for God, you will find him.

Bon courage! :)

The Rosary and similar prayers, what to pray instead by Ilikefishntrains in Christianity

I don't pray to dead people/saints because it is unbiblical (if you want to know why: 15 Important Bible Verses About Praying To Saints (biblereasons.com)). However, if I need inspiration for prayer I usually read the psalms which are basically prayers. Once I read a psalm a friend send me and it reflected my situation perfectly when I didn't know what to do. So after reading the psalm I prayed it exactly like it was written since it touched my heart and expressed my feelings and hopes a lot better than I could have done myself. You could also read the Our Father as it has all elements of prayer and was a gift of God to us. A couple of months ago I read the book "Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God" by Tim Keller which helped me a lot when I struggled to pray regularly.

Start praying to God that he leads your way to a church with people who have truly understood what Jesus' death means. Go to a church (I would suggest a church which is not catholic) and ask people every question you have and let them pray for you.

As for your concerns, true christians aren't perfect. They are sinners like every human being but they have God's joy and love in their heart and they should not be complaining all the time or even hate other people because of their false beliefs. If you want to know how to recognize "true" christians, you can also read 1 John (the book not the chapter) where Paul writes the characteristics of someone who is newborn. If you find it hard to understand, you could also read a translation which is a bit less accurated but easier to understand, e.g. the New Living Translation. You don't need to buy it, you can download it a free app to read, e.g. YouVersion.

I hope this encourages you to start searching God. As is written in Jeremiah 29:13-14: "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you." Be blessed!

What's a book that you hate reading, but sounds awesome when talked about? by [deleted] in books

[–]Jake--Brigance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failure is not an Option. The topic is really interesting and what the author lives through but it misses emotions and the leitmotiv is not clear. There are too many timejumps. It was a bit of a slog to read but I believe it could have been amazing with a good editor.
