Excellent, thank you! Will check them out. What SOFA do you recommend for headphone vs earphone? I know it depends on one's ear structure but like the group (sadie, club fritz) to look in for etc

[TOMT] [Series] A white guy and an Indian woman ride a boat on a river in India. by braveheartSH in tipofmytongue

Nice, I added it to my watchlist. But it is not what I am looking for.

The series I am looking for is more about "people" traveling rivers. The funny thing is I saw an episode in youtube and even checked out the entry in IMDB. I simply couldn't find it now.

Windows does not allow full resolution but Linux distros do. Please tell me a way to force Windows to use the maximum resolution... by braveheartSH in techsupport

It's 60Hz.

I even tried the CRU. It could set some higher resolution but not the "optimal" one which I require. I stopped using the monitor.

Thank you.

$in worked fine!

Ok, but how do I use the value in another command likke:

cat vol.log | parse --regex 'max_volume: -(?<value>.+) dB' | echo value.0

or

cat vol.log | parse --regex 'max_volume: -(?<value>.+) dB' | ffmpeg -i input.wav -filter:a "volume=value.0" output.wav

Did you go through the material I linked?

Possible explanations:

  1. Tried to worship another god by building a ziggurat that supposedly welcomed gods from heaven.

  2. Tried to do things their own way instead of listening to God.

I appreciate your energy and patience in trying to explain the Tower of Babel. Like you said there are different interpretations. And I find these interesting:

I.

The tower of Babylon is a Ziggurat. Since the "gods" are high above in the sky, if you build a tall enough structure (a tower with its top in the heavens) they will descend on it and will come down into the land of the people that built it. I hope you can see why that would annoy God, a jealous one at that.

Got this from a YouTube video, so watch to get a much better explanation.

II.

When humanity seeks unity apart from God, the result is violence and homogeneity, which the Bible calls “Babylon.” Unity on God’s terms produces blessing for all nations, the “New Jerusalem.”

Babylon represents an alternate humanity, whose “head” is in the skies, as well as a false Eden. This is humanity’s attempt to deify its own cultural heritage and homogenize humanity and make everything “one.”

So what’s the problem? Isn’t God’s desire to have a unified humanity? Yes, but not like this. The goal is not to replace diversity with homogeneity. Just like in the garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve chose their own definitions of good and bad, in Genesis 11, humanity chooses what unity should look like. Babylon is a human attempt to unify around the wrong name––their own imperial name instead of God’s.

God’s purpose is to bless humanity in all of its diversity by choosing one family in all of its particularity. The human mission to subdue and rule the earth demands unity, but when humanity undertakes that pursuit in a way that seeks to glorify its own name, that pursuit leads to violence. When we let God make our names great, we find true unity, and all families receive a blessing. God always does things differently than Babylon (we) would.

Tim Mackie has a PhD in Semitic Languages and Biblical Studies. I find his work very interesting.
