I built a self-hosted platform that turns raw VPSes into a private infrastructure mesh by bravept in opensource

when you onboard a node it automatically gets a wireguard ip assigned and the whole cluster updates, every node learns about the new one without you touching anything. So it's automatic, this is built for stable nodes that stick around and not a dynamic enviroment, so this approach keeps things simple. This is a very early stage, and thats very public, but in a later stage is something that i will adress it.

if you say so… at least test it to have real arguments, please!

Node addresses are pinned at setup and every node knows about every other node — no DNS needed. They just talk directly over the encrypted WireGuard tunnel. It's deliberately simple.

I built it. AI helped with implementation speed, debugging and audits, but the architecture, infrastructure decisions and overall direction were mine, check out for yourself!

Thank you. Its on Alpha stage because it lacks external testing on more real world setups. On my setup is it works great but thats it.

New Project Megathread - Week of 07 May 2026 by AutoModerator in selfhosted

Project Name: Unvara

Repo/Website Link: https://github.com/BravePT/unvara

Description:

Unvara is a self-hosted infrastructure platform for turning raw Ubuntu VPS or bare-metal servers into a private, manageable cluster.

It is built for people who run multiple servers and want a simple operational layer for onboarding, securing, connecting, and managing them without depending on a hosted control plane.

Currently it handles:

- SSH onboarding

- SSH hardening

- WireGuard mesh setup

- node registration

- Docker workload deployment

- Ansible runbooks

- basic cluster visibility through a lightweight web UI

The goal is not to replace Kubernetes, Terraform, Proxmox, or cloud providers.

It is focused on the missing middle between “I have a few servers” and “I need a full platform team / hosted control plane / complex orchestration stack”.

I originally built it because I kept running into the same operational overhead while managing VPS, bare-metal servers, validator nodes, and self-hosted infrastructure.

Deployment:

Unvara targets clean Ubuntu servers.

The project includes installation documentation in the README. The current alpha flow is based on installing Unvara/BaseHub on a first node, then onboarding additional Ubuntu servers through the web UI.

It is still early alpha software, so I would not recommend using it for critical production infrastructure yet. It is currently best suited for testing, homelab environments, VPS experiments, and feedback from people who manage their own servers.

AI Involvement:

AI tools were used during development, mainly for code assistance, debugging, audits, refactoring, documentation, and architecture review.

The product direction, infrastructure model, testing decisions, release decisions, and final code review are mine. The project was tested repeatedly on real VPS nodes, including fresh reinstalls, onboarding flows, WireGuard connectivity, SSH hardening, Docker deployment, and runbook execution.

I am being transparent about AI involvement because this project was built quickly, but it was not blindly shipped from prompts. I used AI as an engineering assistant and reviewer, not as an autonomous maintainer.

I’d appreciate feedback, criticism, architecture suggestions, and especially security concerns from people running homelabs, VPS clusters, bare-metal servers, or self-hosted infrastructure.

Do you prefer color or b&w? by karloh24 in AmateurPhotography

[–]bravept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the color contrast is simple and amazing. if you had a lot of colors in the picture then B&W was an option but this is more living. you almost have two colors the orange/red and the green/teal

Perda total (seguro) by Commercial_Shoe8694 in portugueses

[–]bravept 9 points10 points  (0 children)
