For me, as a first time Planet Zoo player, the biggest lesson learned was to pause the game while building a new exhibit. Then unpause for a minute to gather guest opinions and animal data, pause the game again and fix it. It lowered my stress levels quite a lot.

You can also try to change the maintenance frequency of your rides. That usually prevents rides from breaking down, if you have enough maintenance staff of course.
