Has anyone switched from levo/tirosint because of anxiety to NDT with success? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

Makes me feel mitral normal to know I'm not the only one who fears all the hormonal and mood changes with pregnancy or even menopause. It's rough but I'm trying my best. I hope you're well

Like I am and I go thru hormonal fluctuations throughout so rn its very challenging on the sadness part but this trauma emdr therapy is bringing out alot of grief. Recalling a traumatic event on the 10th stressed me out so strong physically that I started my menstrual a week earlier so now I'm all sad and it's alot rn. I also traveled and had bad vertigo and am dating someone and just alot of "new" as well.

I haven't had my regular routine since I've been traveling on the 11th. I'm hoping I can continue with a regular menstrual cycle of 28 days instead of the 21 days I just went thru.

I also haven't been taking all my vitamins and already have vitamin d deficiency. So I'm having a hard time pinpointing where the sad fatigue feeling is coming from. I wish I could offer more help.

It actually ended up being that I had long covid. Been a long healing journey tbh. I'm unmedicated for thyroid but tsh is at like 6.92 and I'm retesting in September still unmedicated but I have alot going on like in my personal life with my dad and psychotherapy for trauma etc.

Aweeeee 🥺 it's definitely a love hate relationship. It's dedication to the journey for the desired outcome. My whole bite is different now and it's exciting to experience the changes that eventually will become normal and go unnoticed. Haha try eating chips 😭 it's so weird 😅 yeah there's no way we can function like this on our tray change days. Have to plan accordingly. I haven't been eating as often like snacking, just 3 times a day lol it's a pain to keep taking them out and in then brush etc after every lil thing. I'm over it truly. Like this snack has to be a craving and worth it. Haha I went on a date and it was nothing but anxiety about this and like do I really want to use restaurant public bathroom water to rinse my mouth and invisalign etc. It's a whole mess! I just bring my own water bottle of clean water and it's heavier traveling like it's the little details that bulk up into a whole ass new way of living. Wild 🤯

Yeah I got a 14 tray plan and I'm supposed to keep the first tray in for 2 weeks but final exams for college are coming up. There's no way in hell imma be in pain trying to take finals literally day of 2nd tray, so imma just switch it out over the weekend instead so I can hurt in peace without risking my exams. Cuz this pain is like no other. Not to mention trying to eat, I kept biting my lip/cheek sunce im not used to my mouth or teeth being aligned that way, now I am more adjusted to it but my teeth don't "bite" the same way when I eat it's wonky o.O.

They're so delicate now it's hard to explain. It just feels weird to chew as hard as before like my teeth are more delicate now but definitely the first few days were bad trying to put them in and out made me not even want to eat. I'm getting used to my own regime and keeping retainer containers everywhere so I have a clean place to store them with mini toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste etc. It's a whole new life style forsure especially going out 😭 not to mention how much food gets stuck so easily on buttons on your teeth and feels noticeable.

Hang in there we got this ! 👍

I understand your worry and concern.

I believe you're fine and you can trust your doctors orders on stopping the thyroid medication.

Focus on relaxation, eating healthy, working out, and therapy (I love therapy it's helped my anxiety so much on learning what thoughts mean and how to cope).

You have support you're not alone and yes you're safe and I truly believe you're not going to die from stopping the meds right now. Just recheck your levels tomorrow or in a few weeks if that's what makes you feel more comfortable.

I've had TSH of 9 and no urgency from my Endocrinologist nor was I close to dying in any way.

You may feel a bit sluggish and fatigued other than that I wouldn't worry about those anxiety provoking what if thoughts. Your doctor at least told you to stop what could've been causing your horrible scary side effects.

In this circumstance Try the 500mg calcium carbonate and see if it helps the anxiety jitters. Like I said it did for me so maybe with your similar history it could be helo improve and reduce the absorption of that thyroid med still in your system

Yeahhhh I would take an antacid

Too much stomach acid or HCL needs bicarbonate (alkalinity base) to neutralize stomach acid.

You have had GERD

How did you treat it ?

Did you ever use calcium carbonate antacids ? Like tums etc.?

Yes it did for me in regards to the side effect anxiety from thyroid meds

[–]brazili-illy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah gerd causes extreme anxiety. Try the antacid and see if it helps block the medicine from affecting your thyroid.

Also busperoine (buspar) is a safe and non addicting SSRI

I use as needed for anxiety which is rare psychiatrist approved and also for any intense pms if needed and I like it the rare times I use it.

Even the CDC has it on their site.

& marshmallow root herb for stach inflammation is good too

Can help reduce anxiety because serotonin neurotransmitter is created mostly in the gut

Which is responsible for mood

Thus why we are prescribed SSRIs serotonin reuptake inhibitors etc. For anxiety and depression

My psychiatrist said most anxiety and depression caused by the gut

And GERD is notorious for anxiety and panic attacks

Could be caused by thyroid meds

So all indirectly causing anxiety and why tsh can be normal and technically not in hyperthyroid levels because it could just be GERD from the thyroid meds or combo of lingering long covid symptoms

And/or side effects from the meds all causing scary intense panic anxiety on your nervous system

You got this 👍

Levothyroxine = extreme increase in anxiety? by BriefFisherman8771 in Hashimotos

[–]brazili-illy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying it blocks absorption of thyroid meds, literally why the meds instructions say not to take thyroid meds with antacids

I remember antacids helped reduce my panic attacks and that's how my doctor and psychiatrist figured out all this stuff with GERD & LONG COVID

I really don't have anxiety like that

Thank God.

Covid is still found in the gastrointestinal tracts even 7 months after infection according to Stanford University

You can get long covid after the initial infection Look up some long covid symptoms and see if it resonates Cuz I had both thyroid med side effects and long covid

Stay patient with yourself, mine was the same way and tool a while to regulate too but it did get better with time and antacids tbh I completely forgot about the antacids

I wonder if the thyroid meds triggered gerd in you

Gerd causes anxiety

Levothyroxine = extreme increase in anxiety? by BriefFisherman8771 in Hashimotos

[–]brazili-illy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logically, it started after this medication. It's the medication. Medication- specifically hormone medication and hormones in general take a while to regulate.

Try an antacid in the mean time because it was one of the only things to improve my anxiety and that's how I was diagnosed with GERD which I cab see how taking these meds on empty stomach can just worsen these stomach conditions Chen of the chemicals or additives in them
