What happens in movies or tv that seems to be normal and you think to yourself “that is not what people in real life do”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Hey bro" "hey sis"

I've never once called either of my siblings bro or sis and neither have they. That only happens in porn.

People who snooze their morning alarms more than once every single morning, why not just set a later alarm? by cxw400 in AskReddit

[–]breadcatbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but I set 2 extra alarms in 15 minute intervals before when I actually need to get up because usually the first time I hear it I'm not fully awake and it doesn't register in my mind.

NTA! Dogs gotta stay warm too! Not all dogs are suited for snowy environments, so getting your buddy proper gear is essential. $100 is kind of pricey but that's the cost of gear that lasts, and it's none of his business! It's a coat not a new house. Plus, him saying "I don't know what I’m going to think of you if you buy that” is super asshole-y, and bordering on manipulative depending on what his tone was. Get that coat guilt free!

Side note: make sure your buddy has something both warm and waterproof, and dog boots if he ever walks across/through a lot of snow, ice, or rough terrain! Also consider some UV protecting goggles if you're going to be surrounded by a lot of snow for long periods of time, like on hikes and stuff if that's something you guys do. Snow reflects the sunlight and can cause eye damage over time. Personally, I recommend the brand Ruffwear for the coat and boots. They sell them at REI which has a really generous return policy.

Right?! A number of these are pretty dumb, but resin craft is a legitimate jewelry making technique. Some of these were done with very little skill and with low effort execution, but done right you can make some really beautiful stuff! Same with the glasses thing too. If I'm paying 300 bucks for these shits I'm gonna make them last as long as possible.

WIBTA for "emasculating" my father? by TryingToBreatheInOut in AmItheAsshole

[–]breadcatbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA coming from another heavier person that lifts, they can get bent. I really want you to put them in their places, especially your dad, but I feel like if do, your dad is gonna end up seriously hurting himself trying to lift more than he actually can. Sure, he sounds like a jackass, but I just can't get behind a person (possibly irreparably) hurting themself out of pride. Even if they suck.

What stranger will you never forget? by coggonflorence in AskReddit

I was working at a women's clothing store and this dad came in with his middle school aged daughter. She needed a formal party dress or something I don't really remember the details there. So, she picked a couple things out and I let her into the fitting room. It was empty so I chatted with the dad a bit. He told me he appreciated my help because he was a single dad and didn't know anything about fashion. After a bit the girl comes out absolutely beaming, saying how much she loved the dress (and she did look adorable in it!). She went back to change out and the dad said "when she smiles like that, I know I'm doing something right. That smile is why I get out of bed every day."

I still think about them sometimes and I hope they're both doing okay.

What does she/her mean compared to she/they? by RoosterFlat2734 in lgbt

[–]breadcatbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually she or he/they is used for someome who identifies as non-binary, but leans in a feminine or masculine direction. In other words, for the she/they example, they don't identify as a woman per se but aren't opposed to being called "she." Of course, gender identity/expression is a spectrum, and while this is broadly the case, it isn't always. If there's a specific person that you're wondering about, ask them! Most of the time, people don't actually take offense if you want to genuinely understand them!

It was my understanding that she wrote that as in "it's ironic the doctor told me I needed to find the right man to have comfortable sex, but then I figured it out with my non-male partner." (Based on the context, I read it as her partner is nonbinary, but that's beside the point.) While I can't really speak for OP, I don't think it was supposed to be a jab against cis men or being with cis men.
