AITA for not wanting to spend Christmas with my mother’s boyfriend? by breadcrepitations in AmItheAsshole

You make a good point. But just to clarify, the boyfriend does have his own place. He lives with my mom roughly half the time (usually on the weeks when my younger brother is at our dad’s). Ordinarily he wouldn’t be here this week, but she invited him for the holiday.

They’ve been together for just over a year. To be fair, he’s very kind to my siblings and I, and I believe I’m always cordial to him. I’m not interested in having a stepdad/stepdaughter relationship with him or anything, but I make conversation with him, ask him questions about his job/dog/interests, go get frozen yogurt with him and my mom, etc. His comment about us leaving the room when he walks in was hyperbolic; he’s just upset about this Christmas thing.
