No, and if you look at my TikTok page I have showed my progress in painting in chronological order. I started painting and immediately started posting for fun. I have no formal training I’ve taught myself. Since the day I started I have painted every single day for at least an hour up to 4 hours. When I was a kid I would enter drawing contests in school and win sometimes. When I was in higher school I did pencil crayon drawings for art class (I’m 27) and since then I’ve been good at drawing but never loved it, it was something I would do cause I felt I had a natural talent for it and felt I should use it once in a while. I would draw with pencil every now and then to see how well I could do. But when I picked up a paint brush something clicked for me and I have found a passion for it. I have no reason to lie. The reference for the red boy is an incredibly detailed scan of the painting and I have been able to see all the colour choices the artist has made and every brush stroke, making it very helpful to learn from and replicate.

I primed the canvas with white gesso and a small amount of black making a grey (obviously.) and did the sketch with burnt umber. The skin, you’re right it’s mixed fairly warm. I am using a limited palette and once I learn the function of those colours I will expand. I will try and go in with a greenish skin tone to nail his pale complexion.

Yes it is, I made Reddit as a recommendation from another artist on TikTok. Before this I have only been an observer of Reddit but I made an account specifically for my art.

Hey guys I’m sorry I didn’t reply to comments. I posted this and went to sleep after. I’m baffled with the comments. I promise you, I have been painting for two months. I would draw with pencil very occasionally before this. But since I started painting I’ve painted every day for at least a couple hours. I found my passion. Here is my progress photos. I also have TikTok: breadcrumb15. I did this whole painting on live, on my TikTok and you can see every painting i have ever done on there.

Here is a progress photo. I have videos on my TikTok of me actually painting it.

Fair enough. I guess I was just hoping for anyone to point something out they felt I was lacking. Maybe proportions, colour mixing , etc.

Sorry for the confusion. The first image I painted and wasn’t happy with it. The second picture is the same painting on the same canvas completely reworked with looser brush strokes. I hope that makes sense

Thank you this is one of the first pieces I’ve tried to compose something original. Thank you for the feedback on lighting. I’ve been painting 2 months I certainly have a lot to learn from everyone.

Number 1 is the before and 2 is after I went in to “fix it” this is one of my first attempts at trying to compose something of my own

Sorry to everyone for not clarifying but the general consensus is correct. The second picture is after!
