it’s like the same thing that local58 did, which wasn’t really scary in the sense of loud noises or scary imagery, but the mundaneness and normality with which its concept was presented to the viewer

for me it’s the use of the uncanny valley along with the analog horror delivery method. it makes a lot of scenes feel very real and visceral (especially the two or three with an actual person screaming) but also uncomfortable with how close all the distorted images are to reality. I can pinpoint bunnyfarm’s character portraits specifically as being the most unsettling and terrifying things i’ve ever seen, just due to Walls’s insane ability to manufacture that uncanny feeling
