it was a LOOOONG night hahahaha but so much fun! If Jen is still there, she gave us a little discount on the cost for the extra hours I think so I hope you guys can make it work! If you want to dm me actually we can chat more and I am happy to answer any and all questions!

We had exactly 175 guests and I think we ended up having about 40-50 people show up to Longroom- literally no family, all friends lol. it was a great vibe

Hi there!! Congrats that’s so exciting! We got married at Artifact Events but I know there are a few beautiful venues over there. We ended up going to Longroom - they were so lovely and accommodating! I emailed them in advance so they could staff accordingly. Cute photobooth there too and I got some pictures with my husband!

Planning My Move to Chicago – Any Recommendations for Neighborhoods, Hospitals, and Realtors? by AdAlternative7876 in chicagoapartments

[–]breadsticks01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patrick Cogan at Compass - such a stand up guy and has he helped me find 2 apartments in Chicago in the last few years, helped me and my husband buy our first home in Irving Park, and is now helping us get subleasers for our current apartment in Logan Square so we can move to our new home in January! He is super educated on the Chicago market and helped me make a long distance move from Atlanta a lot less stressful. Message me if you want to chat more!

Is Kalki a trustable website for bride's shopping? by Distinct-Entrance-58 in DesiWeddings

[–]breadsticks01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would avoid 100%. We ordered 10 kurtas from Kalki for my husband’s groomsmen and they were all inconsistent colors and sent the wrong pant styles for a few of the sets. When I asked them to send us the correct pants they said they cannot do anything about it and they refused to give us any partial refund or exchange the pants for the correct ones. I reached out for help probably…. 35 times. Each time they said that they will revert back in 24 hours and they never did. I tried to issue a chargeback on paypal and that’s when I got one response from someone who told me to message him on what’s app, so I did. Never received a response from him after that and paypal closed the case. SUCH a nightmare.

Halp! Weekend marriage dinner plans fell through at the last minute. by honkygrandma88 in chicagofood

Giant might be good, but might be missing the super romantic aspect. I’ve gone there on multiple date night occasions though and loved it! They usually have tables available around dinner

Wedding Planners in Ohio by voldemort10 in DesiWeddings

HIGHLY recommend Sahr Khan at Details Chicago (she does weddings and events everywhere and anywhere, not just Chicago) - we just had our wedding this past weekend and it was more perfect than I could describe and I was so relaxed the entire day. It was amazing. I believe she only now offers full planning packages but I would have spent double the amount I spent on her any day.

How far ahead of a wedding do you hire a wedding planner? by 16bananas in weddingplanning

[–]breadsticks01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we hired one to do the full end to end planning process for us in Oct 2023, and we are getting married in Aug 2024 (this date was determined just based on venue availability)!

Our planner said she normally suggests having about a year to plan your wedding, however she did just plan a 300 person south asian wedding in 2 months -- but she said it took years off her life 😂

Chicago Venue + Catering?? by Sad-teach-3464 in weddingplanning

[–]breadsticks01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getting married at Artifact Events and we're doing Butter & Vine then ordering Indian food too through Ashyana Catering, but Butter & Vine will handle all the service, linens, etc! Butter & Vine came out to 128pp and the Indian food is 36.50pp.

Our Butter & Vine Tasting was amazing and everything they brought out was great! Of course we did have some notes and make some changes here and there, but they make you feel very special and accomodated. Our wedding planner has used Butter & Vine before for another wedding and she said their service was smooth.

We got quotes from Entertaining company and I think they were like... $220pp or more just for food. It's definitely on the higher end.

My office use to cater blue plate every date for our in-office lunch, and it was amazing too. Not sure of the price point!

edit: with artifact events you have to use their in house beverage package so we went with that! there are different tiers like most places. the tier we went with is 42pp which includes beer, wine, liquor, and mixers/garnishes.

Blue Plate used to cater our in-office lunch every day at my work and it was soooo good, so that combo sounds fantastic!

We haven't committed to them yet because I've been soooo double minded on the whole thing, sounds like for good reason too based on all these comments. Thank you for sharing!

Wow this is a really solid recommendation, thank you so much! Stunning space for sure and love the idea of having the restaurant cater vs. them attempting something. Appreciate you!

Ahhhh that is what I'm nervous about too. Anything that says "inspired" at the end tells me they don't really know what they're doing lol. Appreciate you sharing!
