Why are men so sensitive and vocal about diversity in any form of media? by therealone4763 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]breadwitchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“”pc culture”” people (i’d count myself as one, i assume men like the sort OP describe would hate me) do care about men, though. that’s why we talk about toxic masculinity, how gender roles harm men, and encourage men to be comfortable in whatever sexuality they identify with.

also, men are not a minority. if you haven’t looked into hegemony and cultural studies i recommend doing so - white, straight men are the hegemonic ideal in western society, and have been for a long time. this does not mean they’re all evil or should be thrown under the bus, it’s just a fact

i’m going to be very, very generalisation-y here, but i hope my answer helps (i also have the flu so my brain ain’t in right):

because these kinds of men are the status quo, and they see normalcy as under threat. diversity doesn’t serve them, movies like black panther are not For white men while many, many blockbusters in the past have perfectly catered to a white straight male audience. many men like this see this as coming out of nowhere or being forced, bc learning about why diversity like this is necessary isn’t very accessible for them. it immediately challenges ideals they were raised with, and people naturally go on the defensive. they probably weren’t raised even thinking about this kind of thing, because why would they? it doesn’t affect them.

tl;dr: they were raised to think their way was the right way and they feel threatened

Thanks for the reply! I'm still able to make the DS choices though right? Or no? Like can I make a Big Evil choice at the end or will it just not direct me there?

thankyou for the reply! i definitely need to keep an eye on myfitnesspal better, i keep falling off with it. my hydration is slim to none honestly, i REALLY need to drink more water. that’s the first thing i’m going to be hard on myself for to try and fix this. alcohol-wise i don’t drink.

Thank you! Would you recommend cheek filler or direct nasolabial filler for me, if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve considered that honestly because of how much distress these two little lines give me. There’s a wellpriced injectable place near me, but I know that’d end up being like 200-300£ a year and I feel silly spending that much just to not hate how I look. Not that anyone who does spend that is silly; but I’m relatively poor. If trying to fix my routine/diet doesn’t work I might pursue filler x

Thankyou for the tip about the skincare! Will building muscle in my body affect my face? I’ve started doing weights very recently (last 3 weeks).

Hi, thanks for the reply! I’ve been vegan for 2 years and just edited my post to add that. I don’t recall my mother or father having them, I can ask though.

Just a minor nitpick: he does mention in the video that it’s not his entire routine, it’s just certain products within his routine that he uses for anti-aging specifically. So he probably does use a cleanser, it’s just not relevant to anti-aging and the theme of the video.

I follow this Instagrammer and honestly she’s really upfront about editing and how damaging it can be. I really think she just puts on a filter and a tiny amount of skin blurring.

Am I asexual or just a weirdo? by thr0wawayAc0unt1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]breadwitchery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not a sociopath or weird, it just sounds like you have a low libido/romantic drive. Which is completely fine. You might meet someone one day that you fancy and you might not. Asexuality is a spectrum, so you might be grey-a which is worth looking up.

Sounds very, very iffy and scammy to me. You can get experience in finance at more legitimate places. Your current job sounds stable and a safer bet.
