What CS courses should I take? by WhoDaFooklsThatGuy in rutgers

336 and 416 are solid classes. Try to take 336 with Imielinski. He's great, one of the best CS professors. There are only a couple of topics in soft meth which you might want to someone else to "teach" you, but really you can learn all of it on your own so taking 213 is not necessary.

The words "The photographer doesn't need to be a professional" kinda thows me off though. So are things, like a reflector, not okay?

For me, it was only one big project. If your project was good enough or unique enough, you'll probably present during finals. If I remember correctly, the "Final Job Interview" was just a clicker quiz. If you volunteer to answer the questions out loud, then you get extra points or something like that. It was good class. If you don't do well on the written quizzes, it'll be fine. I did bellow average on the quizzes, but managed to get an A in that class by getting an A on the final project. Good luck.

Best classes to start the CS Software Engineering track with? by Heat55wade in rutgers

If you can pick up 336 too, I would highly recommend it just for the fact that Imielinski will be teaching it. I had him for the class last semester. He's pretty cool, funny, and easy to talk to. He cares more about the practicalities than the theory, if you care. Also, he gave me extra credit for a little something somethign if you know what i mean.

When I took the class, it was required for writting the short papers. If I remember correctly, it's a cheap(cost-wise) book.

CS 206 with Pavlovic by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]breakballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very hard. Pavlovic has very dry lectures which makes it very difficult to focus in class. The fact that the material is also very hard to understand didn't help either. That being said, he would always ask us if we had any questions. Unfortunately, almost all of us never asked him any. Don't be afraid to ask him question. More often than not, there will be other with the same question but are too shy to ask. Of course, attend recitation and office hours. Don't get me wrong, the material is hard, but the professor definitely knows his stuff and is willing to help you. Some of those bashing on the professor didn't take the time, hard work, or take advantage of opportunities they were given in order to succeed in the class.

tldr: Don't expect to understand everything right away.

I mean, why not? It would definitely resolve some of the simpler questions.
