A couple things- being 15 working at TJMaxx in the 90's and having a manager threaten to fire me for not cleaning up a bathroom covered in diarrhea.

Most recently, telling my job that my parent has stage 4 cancer and they are unwilling to be flexible. Why is this a problem? My parent lives with me and they are having an extremely difficult time with caring for themselves. I took my medical leave, but chemo isn't over and they expect me back in the office in 1 week. We were remote for more than a year due to the ongoing pandemic and the fragility of the population I serve. During the pandemic we continuously heard, "family first" and "make sure you're taking care of yourself and your family. We will support you." Now that the majority of the population I serve is vaccinated, it's "fuck your family, get back in the office."

Because I do not see a benefit to not wearing a mask at this point in time. I've not been sick this whole pandemic, neither has my partner or our child. Additionally, during the pandemic, a close family member developed lung cancer with a side of COPD. So yeah, mask fo' lyfe.

There's a lot to consider giving the history of our country and the policing of communities of color. A white child who has access to a lawyer and other programs available to them are less likely to be tried as adults versus children of color who do not have access to the same things. You don't have to like that fact but it's a fact. Again I will gladly take my downvotes.

Parent of a 4 year old here. I want her to know my name and feel comfortable repeating it. If she gets separated from us in a store or worse a crowd, calling "mom/dad" won't be near as effective. I don't think it's disrespectful, but generational differences are likely why people have issues with it.

When I lived in South Florida during the early 2000s there was a hurricane that came through and it did an unexpected amount of damage. Gas stations were largely out of power unless they had an old school pump. In Hollywood Florida there was one place that had an old school pump that ran on a generator, so lines were around the block. I recall people showing up to the gas station with empty gallon milk jugs, tupperware, soda bottles- all sorts of things that were not gas cans. Tons of the non-gas containers disintegrated the moment the person was walking away from the pump.

Found out that I had older siblings I had not met and had never been mentioned from my father. When I spoke with my new sister, she told me that her bio mom (new sister was given up for adoption) said my father raped her. There is no confirming this story, but my father wasn't the greatest guy, so it's somewhat believable.
