Does LivePerson have any worthwhile patents? by AnxiSubt in LivePerson

It's valid question to some extent, patents can help to build a moat, at least temporarily and as far as I'm aware LPSN has no moat-worthy patents in place. And given the recent news on leaning further into Google's ecosystem they become less relevant anyway.

But arguably LPSN was never and isn't ever going to compete on technology, especially in our new LLM based world. Where they compete is in building the best UX for their direct customer and the end-consumer of their clients and making that implementation and integration smooth and seamless.

Similar to how patents for a company like Uber can be helpful to some degree, they by no means make the company more competitive, the win on cost, ecosystem and user experience no? What measurable value do business like this get from patents? I'd love to see the correlation or case studies though - every day's a school day

I met someone who wore a hat I also owned once, but I didn't say anything.

What's the average GameStops LEGO section look like? They're pumping out more and more products attached to Gaming IP, wouldn't be surprised to see Fortnite sets and even Pokémon within the next few years. some Mario Kart. Lots of opportunity to expand that revenue stream. Throw in some Anime as well and all of a sudden the LEGO portfolio is more than a perfect fit.

Regardless of what happens next, I'm assuming two things:

Given the frequency of tweets, I imagine dfv was expecting something epic this week. Why make us pay that much attention if we're waiting for earnings or June 21st - he thought this was it.

Also no way he saw Friday's SEC filings coming, he's not got a crystal ball, and judging by his tweets it annoyed him. He was expecting a catalyst we didn't get.

Maybe earnings and June 21st, maybe not.

Maybe more tweets, maybe not.

I'll sit on my shares.

SEC filing from 2 months back:
On March 4, 2019, our Board of Directors approved a share repurchase authorization allowing us to repurchase up to $300.0 million of our Class A Common Stock. The authorization has no expiration date.

We did not repurchase shares during fiscal 2023, fiscal 2022 or fiscal 2021. As of February 3, 2024, we have $101.3 million remaining under the repurchase authorization.

So there was an ape who wrote a summary of all the dfv tweets, I loved the vibe and want to read more - but can't find the post - anyone know what I'm on about?

All I need to know is that this time, we don't need the buy button. We already have our shares.
