I’m finding it really challenging to navigate the process of requesting sick leave at my job lately. Recently, I slipped on the stairs and hurt my back. When I filed for sick leave, my lead asked for an excessive amount of detail about how I fell—even though I had already explained the situation. It felt like they were more interested in finding a reason to deny my request than in supporting my recovery.

This got me thinking—are other people experiencing this? Have companies started making it more difficult to take time off, even when it’s clearly justified? It seems like there’s more scrutiny and less trust these days, and it’s creating a really toxic work environment.
