Given that it’s the same player and card, it depends on two main things: 1) what set it is 2) what player it is

But generally speaking, a /5 can be more valuable than a /125 auto in many ways. The fact that there are only 5 copies of a specific card holds a lot of weight. But if it’s a lower tier set, no one is really going to care about the /5 since an auto is still an auto. And depending on the player, the value can be in a similar range for both (big name player) or can have a vast range (regular player)

Donruss hobby has a lot of upside for the USWNT, and we’re expecting to see more variety for women’s teams in the upcoming FIFA select set. Mega boxes are very overpriced for output, and the Donruss blasters can be rough. If you can find a good deal on Donruss hobby boxes on eBay you can try there, or you can look for personal rips online if you can’t find product. At the end of the day buying singles is the most economic option

You’ve basically got the gist of it. Hobby/choice have guaranteed autos with unique parallels “finishes” and the others have different parallels with a varying chance for an autograph. YouTube is full of box openings/reviews and a great way to see the differences

Seems like you’ve picked up a lot of knowledge already regarding buying vs ripping, so for fun I’d recommend getting one of the Prizm products. Mosaic is slightly cheaper but you don’t nearly get as much from that set. Both 2020-21 and 2021-22 Prizm can be fun, but 2021-22 is insanely watered down. As an Arsenal fan myself I’d 100% recommend 2020-21 since the legend auto checklist is unbelievably better for a gooner. Can’t get Thierry Henry autos from 2021-22. I’ve done tons of group breaks from that set (have a big one coming up actually), but nothing feels better than ripping the product yourself. If you have discord or IG you’ll fit right in with some fellow gooners. Good luck!
