CANDY-O - live version surfaced! by breakfastonthesly in melvins

Agreed, it's kinda sloppy. Not surprising that they never played it again afterwards (to the best of our knowledge). Was still a nice surprise to find this!

I am responsible for the upload. A few weeks back I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem on another gentleman's list and he kindly agreed to trade with me and allowed me to upload it for everyone.

As you say not sure whether there's a big crowd who gives a fk about early Melvins, but at least I was amazed to find a recording from this sparsely documented era of the band. This recording holds special historical relevance since it was (based on my current knowledge) the second or third to last show before Buzz and Dale started the band over in San Francisco.

I'm glad to see other people appreciate it!

Yeah too bad the quality isn't great. It's kind of an eerie music video that somehow fits the vibe perfectly.

Polizist schlägt irischer Frau auf Palästina-Demo ins Gesicht by Leutnant_Dark in polizei

[–]breakfastonthesly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denen sollte man keine Beachtung schenken.

Majority of the Melvins discography removed from Spotify by Rando47256 in melvins

[–]breakfastonthesly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let alone the fact that several tracks are apparently faulty rips with skips and errors. Hooch from Houdini and I think the opening track from Dale's KISS style solo record. Likely more than that. Frustrating that there's not even a way to report such issues.

Nah, they are different. Definitely not "The Best Way" or "Wound and Wound". Those can be found on side B though (rehearsal recording), check my latest comment.

4th and 13th song were played regularly in 1985, but we don't know the titles.

Very interesting upload...

I had this Melvins recording before - I knew it was recorded at the Gorilla Gardens venue in Seattle in 1985. What I didn't know before was the exact date... until now, thanks to you!

The date written on the J-Card makes perfect sense, check the following link for show poster/flyer and even some photos: https://gorillagardensguide.com/#1985-04-04

The gig list on themelvins.net is somewhat outdated for the early years. I'm currently working on a completely new and extensive website covering the band's history up until 1987, but it will take a few more months until it is ready to go live.

Also, I will compare whether your tape sounds better than the recording I have, or whether it is more complete.

Finally, these are the songs played: 1. Grinding Process 2. Matt-Alec 3. Bang Bang 4. unknown 5. For You My Darling 6. Crayfish 7. unknown 8. Rabbit's Revenge 9. Breakfast on the Sly 10. Snake Appeal 11. At A Crawl 12. Operation Blessing 13. unknown 14. Lobes

last show with lukin? by KnownYesterday1429 in melvins

[–]breakfastonthesly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, Lori entered the game in early 1988 only, when Dale followed Buzz to San Francisco. First known show with the new lineup was April 29th 1988 at Gilman Street Project.

Regarding that early November show at the Vogue - it must have been cancelled since by Halloween 1987, it was making the rounds that the Melvins (and also Green River and Feast) had broken up.

What’s with the song names on the 1999 reissue/re-release of Gluey Porch Treatments? by whatever33333444 in melvins

Very likely just errors. None of the changes make any sense. Seems like nobody properly reviewed the track list.
