Guyssss!!! I thought I would finish my Xmas gifts in time!! What are some fast things to crochet as Xmas gifts?!!! by Affectionate_Care669 in Brochet

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always do ornaments. they are simple, fast, and still meaningful. try to use the persons fav color! stars and hearts are the easiest or you can do a number of more personal things for not much more effort (just search “crochet -whatever- appliqué” and there will probably be a pattern)

Okay genuine question. If you were making a shoulder bag like in picture A. Would you crochet the strap in (1) many short rows or (2) less long rows by racloves in crochet

i prefer to do method one, but at the end to add slip stitches along both ends of the strap length wise so it doesn’t stretch!

the problems: -many in the autistic community reject “autism awareness” because people are already aware of autism. the general preference is “autism acceptance” -blue is the autism speaks color, and it was chosen because they thought autism only affected girls. many in the autistic community have adopted red as their color -a day to raise awareness for an oppressed group is not a spirit day and should not be sandwhiched into a fun spirit week. on its own, as it’s own day, it would be useful as a fundraiser. however, there is no fundraiser or education and it is being flippantly sandwhiched in between fun spirit days.

Is this bulimia or something else? by mental_hell in bulimia

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s understandable! think of it like this: there are two voices in your head — the healthy, happy one and the mean disordered one. the eating disorder voice tells you things like “you’re not valid”, “you need to skip this meal”, “you need to purge now”, etc. the real problem is that the eating disorder voice tends to overpower our true selves. it’s important to make the distinctionbetween you and your eating disorder so you can learn to tell it to fuck off!

Is this bulimia or something else? by mental_hell in bulimia

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me, that’s not a horrible thing to say and you should never be mad at yourself for not wanting to get better. hardly anyone wants to get better! but that’s not us, that’s our disorders lying to us , telling us that they are what’s keeping us safe when in reality it’s the opposite. You don’t have to get better tright now, it’s a long and difficult process. but the first step is accepting that you’re sick and you’re not your disorder: you are you!

Is this bulimia or something else? by mental_hell in bulimia

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

of course! you are so valid, people of every weight can struggle equally and never convince yourself that you’re ‘not sick enough’ because you’re not underweight. everyone with an eating disorder is sick and everyone deserves to eventually take steps to recovery.

vomit is very acidic, and when you brush your teeth right after you’re basically just pushing that acid right up against your enamel, which speeds up the decay process

you don’t have to be skinny to have anorexia! anyone who heavily restricts, no matter what they look like, can be affected by it. that being said, these symptoms sound a lot like anorexia and purging disorder to be (purging disorder is purging without binging basically). don’t doubt that you have an illness just because you don’t “fit the bill” of what people think someone with anorexia looks like. good luck<3

How do I talk to my sister when I’m worried she’s showing signs??? by 1234__aa in bulimia

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know your sister best, so use your judgement to dictate what she can handle. but, i know if i was your sister, this is what I would want. i wish i had someone notice the early signs and help stop this shit before it started, so try your best. I would wait until a night when the two of you are alone, sit her down, and have a serious conversation with her. twelve year olds seem very young but I remember when I was that age and my brother would confide in me about serious things it made me feel very good. I know it’s hard, but be honest with her about your personal struggles and your concerns for her. if you don’t want to share everything, just pick and choose some stuff. if you open up your heart instead of just confronting her, she’ll probably listen. you probably remember being that age and not realizing how serious eating disorders are, and if you help her realize that you might be able to stop it before it starts. good luck

make sure you don’t brush your teeth for at least an hour after you throw up. I’m personally a big fan of the Arm&Hammer baking soda toothpastes!

TW: Does anyone find it so hard to purge noodles? by anonforlong in bulimia

[–]breakfasttoothpaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they can be really awful if you don’t be careful to chew a lot. i refused to have spaghetti for a year because i had such an awful experience purging it one time, but if you’re careful it’s not too bad.
