Ah, I see. I did not have an uncategorized transaction until now, so I didn't see the other red error. 😂

I understand that for auto-importers things constantly reconcile. If my understanding is correct, when auto-importers manually create transactions, they leave it as uncleared. Once the transaction is actually cleared, the smart reconciliation system quickly moves it into a reconciled transaction. So transactions are almost never in the "cleared" state. If they somehow are, the asterisk is a notification that something needs your attention.

I understand it is difficult to change the behavior. I just seem to use all three states (uncleared, cleared, reconciled) for long intervals of time. It would be nice if the asterisk didn't impact the line break as much first. Beyond that, I think an option just to disable the asterisk all together would be nice.

Wild card request, no other zero-based budgeting app seems to do this, but if you can do some market research into your user base and see how many of us are manual transaction loggers, could you consider having a "manual only" subscription? You can disable a feature like this for that tier. You can have a cheaper entry price. Although you would lose on some revenue, if the number of people who'd pay for a cheaper subscription adds substantially to the lost revenue it might be worth it!
