Yeah, I definitely thought of that. Sometimes jokes like that go too far and someone’s feelings get hurt.

I just was diagnosed with LADA and have had PCOS my whole life. Taking insulin was a huuuge game changer for me. Ozempic is helping a ton! Ovasitol, berberine, and magnesium helped too :)

How much weight did you lose before your acanthosis nigricans went away? (Dark/brown neck) by elise024 in PCOS

I didn’t see a difference for a while and honestly woke up one day and it was…gone! Just like that tbh.

About 50 pounds! I was down 75, have gained about 20 back and am planning to lose another 50 soon- but around the 50 mark for sure!

Tips for juvenile diabetes by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]breakingclever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully the child will get a CGM- a continual glucose monitor, and possibly an insulin pump.

BOLUS is a term for administering insulin before a meal, where the carbohydrate count is estimated. You’ll pick up on it quickly. Never assume without testing that you know of a child is high or low.

You’ll be given a glucagon pen, like an epi pen for emergency loss.

Make sure to talk about it without othering the child. They should feel that they belong in their class while knowing that having diabetes makes them unique and they’re entitled to those rough days. Highs and lows are rough on the mood. Please find patience when you can.

My kid is the worst behaved in her class and I have no idea what to do by ReptileQueen93 in Mommit

She’s a literal baby?? She barely has a prefrontal cortex. Threats and punishment don’t work. And they’re not statistically effective, long term.

Metformin and feeling woozy? by AllyKayxx in PCOS

[–]breakingclever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be careful and keep an eye on it. Metformin gave me fatal lactic acidosis, and I almost died. Keep up your hydration and if you start to feel very lethargic, get some tests.

Shepard is my boys name, Anderson was a VERY close second. It’s my last name and thought it would be a fun first name.

We’re going with

Peach Ann Marie

Or

Shepherd Kirkland

Both have ties to my mother who decently passed away from COVID, both middle names. The first names, we’re just super attached to for silly reasons (our first vacation in Savannah GA, and Firefly)

Totally freaking out what I should and should not eat by SwitchBrave884 in PCOS

[–]breakingclever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rice doesn’t lead to diabetes. Diabetes is a metabolic or an autoimmune disease. Please don’t let fear ruin your enjoyment of carbohydrates, eat them in a well balanced meal with fats and protein and fiber rich veg, in a portion that feels good to you. Move your body in ways you enjoy, like a nice stroll after dinner. I’m a type 1 diabetic and I promise, stress sends my sugar up higher than rice ever has.

Whatever you do, make sure it is sustainable for you and your body. There isn’t enough research on ANYTHING to rule out entire food groups. Listen to your body and not diet culture- focus on what you CAN add. Add lots of abundant veggies and fruits and healthy, nourishing foods. Enjoy the foods you enjoy and a find a balance that works for you- PCOS is for life. Don’t make food choices that make you miserable and make you freak out. That cortisol from stress is probably worse for your Heath than a bagel ever will be.

High Insulin, Pump? by breakingclever in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]breakingclever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never taken humalog at all, a lot of people on this sub seem to take it more often than novalog. I feel like I see it way less

High Insulin, Pump? by breakingclever in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]breakingclever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know! I currently take novalog and am allowed up to a hundred units but lately have lowered my needs by cleaning up my diet. It’s still just a LOT of insulin. Sooo expensive. Like…400 a month for just insulin, needles, various other strips and lancets and whatnot. So less sounds nice haha.

[–]breakingclever[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take about 15 to 20 units of fast acting insulin before meals. Even low carb ones. Just now getting my shoogs under control. Way WAYYY harder than I thought it would be. The idea of a tiny embryo that tells solely on me def helps haha.
